The first International Conference on Inclusive Education organised by the Asian Centre for Inclusive Education (ACIE) will be held in Dhaka, the capital of Bangladesh, on 15 – 17 February, 2013.
The Conference is open for academics, practitioners, researchers, students, parents, teachers, NGO-workers, public servants and policy-makers with an interest in promoting inclusive education either in the region or in the globe.
ACIE is a joint initiative of some academics, scholars and researchers of universities and professional bodies in the Asian region. After serving as Headteacher at Hornsey School for Girls, which was judged as 'Outstanding' by Ofsted for the first time in May 2007, Andy was appointed Principal of Chelsea Academy in April 2008, four terms in advance of the Academy's opening, in order to recruit students and staff and design the Academy's ethos, operational systems and curriculum.
Chelsea Academy has two sponsors, the Church of England and the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea, and was set up with a vision for a school that serves its local community and has a distinctive Christian ethos.
A committed member of the Christian Consultants' Network, as well as of the organising group for the National Conference for Christians in School Leadership and of ACT, Andy also has a high profile role amongst Headteachers in London, serving as Chair of the London Headteachers' Steering Group for the Specialist Schools & Academies Trust from 2007 to 2010, as a member of the SSAT's Academy Principals' Steering Group since 2009 and as a London representative on the Association of School and College Leaders Council since 2007. With the transformation of the society from a simple to a highly complicated and technological one, it is just proper to equip one’s self with the appropriate tools to succeed.

My teaching practice has been fundamentally enhanced by embedding the use of ICT to enhance learning. I love NearPod as it allows you to recycle PowerPoints and make them a student entered learning opportunity.
Not only did this allow them to be creative, but it was also an excellent memory technique to learn what is relatively difficult language.
Obviously learning is invisible, but my learners really enjoyed growing their learning garden, they found it very satisfying and actually spurred them on to work harder and get more work done. It is lovely to be able to award students for trying, and developing the skills that they will need for later life. Fundamentally using technology is just like trying anything new in your classroom, you need to know that you are using it for the right reasons, and know you learners well so that it is appropriate to motivate, inspire and engage them in a way that can be measured in terms of progress. I believe the answer is a clear yes, and that we owe it to our learners and ourselves to be the best practitioners we can be, not in ten years, but today.
