Emergency dog survival kit containing emergency supplies for your special little loved ones. The Standard Dog ER™ Survival Kit provides both piece-of-mind for you and safety for your dog.
Many people don't realize that store-bought items such as canned food and bottled water don't store safely for longer than 6 months; and even less when exposed to extreme temperatures. With our money-back guarantee, you can rest assured that you have purchased the most reliable pet survival kit on the market. Following a catastrophic disaster, you could find yourself without access to many of the things you use every day to take care of your dog.
ER™ Dog Survival Kits are designed to contain everything your dog needs to survive for 3 days in case you need to quickly evacuate your home following a disaster.
1)  Money, Money, Money – We all love money, but never more so than when we really need it and may not be able to get it.
2)  Doctor in the House – A First Aid Kit is key to being prepared for any type of emergency. 3)  Food, Glorious Food – In addition to the First Aid Kit, it’s important to have a supply of emergency food and water that will last your family for a full 72 hours. 4)  Entertainment:  Make sure to include things that you can entertain the kids with in your kit. 5)  In a Flash – Of course a flashlight seems like a no-brainer as part of an emergency kit, but did you know that battery-powered or wind-up flashlights are the best in situations like this? 7)  Get Grounded – And despite of your best cell phone charging efforts, doing so just doesn’t cut it sometimes. 8)  Bundle Up – A sleeping bag or warm blanket for each member of the household will come in handy in the event of a power outage or family emergency. 9)   A List of Who’s Who – Scrambling in the dark for phone numbers and contact information is no fun, particularly when small kids are in the mix and possibly panicking.
So as you can see, there are some simple things that families can do to assure that they’re prepared in the case of an emergency situation at home.
I'm an often frazzled, sometimes funny and always opinionated working mom of 5,000 children. As far as something to hold all your supplies – you can use a large plastic storage tote with handles, a duffel bag with compartments, a suitcase, or even a large tackle box with lots of sections. Here are some tips to keep in mind as you collect items for your medical kit – while not an exhaustive list, it will get you off to a great start.
This is one category where it can be easy to go overboard, but if you plan smart, you can often cover several illnesses with one medication. Cough syrup – some varieties can be used on children and adults, so perhaps choose one that works for both.
You might not feel like you are qualified to use many medical tools, but there are several you can have on hand to use. There are some items you want to have in your emergency medical kit simply because you may encounter certain medical conditions that require special tools and supplies. The use of essential oils and other homeopathic remedies is growing in popularity, so you may also want to strongly consider stocking some of these products in your kit as well. Clove – it is antibiotic, and anti-inflammatory – clove has been used for years to help with dental problems.
Coconut Oil – this can be used as a carrier oil for essential oils, helping them stretch farther, and can also be used as a mouthwash.
If you have many of the items on this list -you’re well on your way to a fully stocked and useful emergency medical kit.
Think of all your important documents, from the title to your house, to Social Security cards, passports and birth certificates. During Hurricane Katrina, some immigrant survivors lost identification and work authorization documents necessary to prove lawful status, falling at risk for losing legal immigration status.
Recent storms in the mid-Atlantic region resulted in 3 million people without power during a heat wave.
Following a major disaster, telephone lines will likely be down or jammed, making it hard to find your loved ones. Don’t count on using your cell phone during a disaster or using it as storage for emergency contact numbers. Electricity may be out for weeks leaving you in the dark and causing water treatment plants to stop working. Not only should parents make sure that their kids know fire drills and how and when to act in emergency situations; they should also make sure that kids are well-versed on where certain items are in the home, and where to find them in the event of an emergency. Many of us forget that in an instance of a power outage or similar event, bank machines and access credit are down – often leaving us in the lurch. In times of crisis, it may not be possible to get medical attention or help as quickly as we would like. While that may seem like a long period of time to be without power or to be in the midst of an emergency, you just never know, so why not be prepared? It’s pretty much a sure bet that after the first hour they’ll start to stir, and complain that there’s nothing to do.
Without having to rely on electrical power (or batteries in some instances), these items will prove to be priceless when the lights suddenly go out. Make sure to have an emergency contact list of all of the people that you may need to get in touch with in the event of an emergency. Have an alternate location to go to in the event that you cannot be without power, even for a short period of time (i.e.
Most of us probably have a few basic first aid supplies, and an assortment of over the counter meds, but we probably don’t have a true emergency medical kit that could treat and address a variety of ailments and conditions, as well as injuries. These are the items that will treat many minor injuries and illnesses quickly and effectively.
These would include a thermometer (have a couple kinds in your kit, including an ear or temporal thermometer), splints and braces (hand, finger, ankle), tongue depressors, scissors, a pill cutter, blood pressure cuff,  tweezers, gauze, liquid bandage, iodine swabs, stethoscope, surgical gloves, and a suture kit.
This would be things like a blood sugar monitor and testing strips for diabetic patients, feminine napkins and tampons,  and medicine to treat yeast infections. Our emergency planning and preparation begins with developing health-related strategies, guidelines and protocols for emergency response with local partners, such as the Clallam County Department of Emergency Management, hospitals, tribes and local health care providers. This system assures that every Clallam, Kitsap, or Jefferson County resident with a public health concern has access to an on-call public health duty officer, around the clock, every day of the year.

As a public health agency, the Environmental Health Division may become involved in a variety of emergency situations. Our Office Emergency Kit is designed to help keep your employees alive in an emergency situation. The container stores safely anywhere inside or outside your home and can be used along with the included water purification tablets to purify water for safe consumption. Kids can be particularly affected by change and the unknown; for these reasons, parents should assure that they are not only prepared for emergencies, but that their kids are as well. With children in the mix, it’s important to have access to funds, which may be needed to purchase food supplies, medicine, etc.
Because of this, having a First Aid Kit that includes some standard items such as bandages and gauze, medication (Advil, Tylenol and related children’s doses) and more is more important than ever. It’s always better to err on the side of caution.  If you’re like me, you might even include some treats to help alleviate the nervousness or to barter for better behavior!
If you’re a prepper – this is something you absolutely need to put together, and keep it well stocked.
You should also try and group similar items together when stored – for example, keep digestive meds and supplies together,  and keep all pain relievers together. This would include over the counter pain medicine, band aids in various sizes and styles, alcohol, peroxide, antibiotic cream or spray, gauze pads, ice packs, ace bandages, and tweezers. Other items to consider: a couple of bedsheets (folded down as small as you can get them, rain ponchos, and puppy pads or bed wetting pads (super absorbent). You may also want to consider adding some disposable nursing pads and lanolin cream for nursing mothers. Make copies of your documents and keep in a sealed, waterproof pouch in your emergency kit so you can easily take them with you if you need to evacuate.
In addition to writing down family members phone numbers, write down other emergency contact numbers like the fire and police departments, poison control, your family practitioner, a trusted neighbor, and an out of town friend or relative. You and your dog may need to take up shelter outdoors while possibly enduring extreme weather conditions. Make sure to always have a supply of cash on hand to cover expenses for a short period of time.
While trends have led many to forgo traditional technology for the sake of wireless and mobile phones, a blackout where there’s no access to wireless service reminds us that the old-fashioned home phone line is useful after all. Have this information compiled in the light of day before anything happens so that when you do need to contact people, you won’t be in the dark – literally – trying to find the numbers. Should you find yourself in a disaster or survival situation, many of these items could provide needed medical care that could stabilize or even cure a patient if you can’t get to a doctor or hospital. You never know when a medical situation may arise, and if you’re prepared – it can make a huge difference! It’s a good idea to also scan copies of your documents and save them electronically, incase anything happens to your home before you’re able to evacuate.
Big or small, if something happens in your area like flooding, winter storms, or black outs you may not be able to access road ways, grocery stores may be closed, and ATMs may not even be working. Your cat may suffer injuries and need immediate medical treatment at a time when there might not be medical attention available. It may be sufficient to have $50-$75; just make sure that the money is broken down into smaller denominations such as $10 bills so that change for payphones and other incidentals is easily attained. In addition, calling 911 with a cell phone might make it difficult for emergency responders to locate you. Having a well stocked medicine kit can also keep you from having to make last minute (and sometimes costly!) trips to a pharmacy or drug store if you have a specific medical need. Also, having an organized kit will make it simple to see if you are low or out of certain items.
Responding to an emergency starts with you.   Local, state, and federal help may not be available right away so it’s important that you’re able to provide for yourself and your family following an event.
You may also want to consider taping a list of all items in the kit to the inside of the lid, and keep it updated.
