House of 1000 Corpses is an excellent exploitation movie which throws us back to the roots of the horror genre and 70’s exploitation movies. I expected that Shutter Island would be crap based entirely off the fact it starred Leonardo DiCaprio. Neil Marshall much like George Romero is an iconic filmmaker that genre fans love, me included.
Before Christian Bale was speaking in a forced raspy voice and wearing a mask he was kicking ass in a different more sadistic way. I honestly have to say I respect the votes of the 499,000 people who voted but this movie would not have made my list.

The next significant event in zombie pop culture came in 1996 when Resident Evil came to Playstation. Resident Evil, the first "survival horror" game, introduced the dog zombie and the plant zombie. It wasn't until later that year that we were introduced to the fast-moving zombie for the first time in 28 Days Later.
Unfortunately, the movie did not feature a naked woman walking through a graveyard with a gun. Romero, after a long break, came back in 2005 with Land of the Dead, about a post-apocalyptic society where zombies rule the land and the living are hunkered down in fortress of a city. 2007 saw even more zombie movies with 28 Weeks Later, the sequel to 28 Days Later, and the third Resident Evil movie, Resident Evil: Extinction.

It is a classic case of the hunter becoming the hunted and mixes in the classic 70’s exploitation feel of the first film. FRAILTY is a religious thriller about a man raising two boys who feels that god has commanded him to kill demons. Rob Zombie has made some stinkers ( Halloween 2 being the obvious one ) but this is not one of them. I am a huge fan of them both and they absolutely shine in this laugh out loud horror comedy about an Alien infection that turns a small unassuming town into mindless murderous drones. Christian Bale stars as a day trader by day who loves to torture and murder people by night. Its the story of a loner with 32 rules who uses them to survive the zombie apocalypse and his relationship with his ass kicking road trip buddy Tallahassee. The story is a true thrill ride with an outstanding cast that is easily one of the best horror movies of all time.

Based on the book by Bret Easton Elis the book was considered so perverse some countries would not even sell it without it being completely covered. Zombieland is even more impressive when you consider the screenwriters were not well known genre writers at all.
That said it is definitely a polished movie with a great cast and it did not get voted the second best horror movie of the decade without reason.
