The 2014 Goodreads Choice Awards have three rounds of voting open to all registered Goodreads members. Voting opens to 15 official nominees, and write-in votes can be placed for any eligible book (see eligibility below).
The field narrows to the top 10 books in each category, and members have one last chance to vote! Books published in the United States in English, including works in translation and other significant rereleases, between November 17, 2013, and November 15, 2014, are eligible for the 2014 Goodreads Choice Awards. For the sixth time members of the Goodreads community have selected the best books of the year, in 20 categories: from fantasy, to nonfiction, to YA, to books by debut Goodreads authors. There are a dozen of other books that collected more votes than the winners of Goodreads Awards 2013. The books are not selected by a committee of those who receive review copies, but hundreds of thousands of those, who buy the books. These awards reflect what people are actually reading and loving throughout the year—it is an enormous honor to win the votes of true book lovers.

And they have no time to lose, because Brady’s next mission, if it succeeds, will kill or maim thousands.
Mercedes is a war between good and evil, from the master of suspense whose insight into the mind of this obsessed, insane killer is chilling and unforgettable. She still loves her husband, Neal, and Neal still loves her, deeply — but that almost seems beside the point now.

The killer escapes. All the Light We Cannot See by Anthony DoerrMarie Laure lives with her father in Paris within walking distance of the Museum of Natural History where he works as the master of the locks (there are thousands of locks in the museum). But will his resourcefulness be enough to overcome the impossible odds against him?Prince Lestat by Anne RiceOver a decade since the last installment of the Vampire Chronicles, Anne Rice’s Prince Lestat reignites the love affair with the quixotic nosferatu who inspired writers, readers and Hollywood filmmakers. The newly resurrected, but no less rebellious, Lestat addresses a mysterious twenty-first century vampire genocide with the same panache, self-absorption, and drama readers have come to know and love. Rice masterfully populates the present-day storyline with a cast of characters from her previous novels along with new blood, so to speak, and reading this book is like seeing old friends whom you’d sort of forgotten about, but are thrilled to meet again—even if you are reading about them for the first time.
Prince Lestat raises interesting questions about the boundaries of science, conflicting beliefs, and a universal need to belong; a welcome return to a narrative that spawned an entire subgenre of fictionYes Please by Amy PoehlerDo you want to get to know the woman we first came to love on Comedy Central’s Upright Citizens Brigade? In her first book, one of our most beloved funny folk delivers a smart, pointed, and ultimately inspirational read.

She had a play that was to be produced at the New York International Fringe Festival and a job waiting for her at the New Yorker. She had struck a chord.Even though she was just twenty-two when she died, Marina left behind a rich, expansive trove of prose that, like her title essay, captures the hope, uncertainty, and possibility of her generation. The four captivating Russian Grand Duchesses—Olga, Tatiana, Maria and Anastasia Romanov—were much admired for their happy dispositions, their looks, the clothes they wore and their privileged lifestyle.Over the years, the story of the four Romanov sisters and their tragic end in a basement at Ekaterinburg in 1918 has clouded our view of them, leading to a mass of sentimental and idealized hagiography. With this treasure trove of diaries and letters from the grand duchesses to their friends and family, we learn that they were intelligent, sensitive and perceptive witnesses to the dark turmoil within their immediate family and the ominous approach of the Russian Revolution, the nightmare that would sweep their world away, and them along with it.#GIRLBOSS by Sophia AmorusoThe first thing Sophia Amoruso sold online wasn’t fashion—it was a stolen book.

Here, in the official follow-up to the film, the crew has been in hiding since becoming everyone’s most wanted, and now they are forced to come out.
Like his fellow Reds, he works all day, believing that he and his people are making the surface of Mars livable for future generations.
