Understand the impact of security events, maintain situational awareness and make effective mitigation decisions.
The Allgress Incident Management Module allows security and risk professionals to manage security incidents and investigations. Incident Management Training is designed to assist and teach teams the essential skills and techniques required for managing an incident effectively thereby ensuring that it is successfully resolved.
PlanB Consulting have an incident management model they use during incident management training. Invocation covers the identifying of incidents, the different types of incidents and when would your organisation invoke their plan.
This covers where the team would meet and the facilities the team would need for managing an incident. PlanB Consulting have developed their own decision making model based upon the Police National Decision Making Model.
This section looks at the managing of the information during an incident and ensuring that key information is identified. Communicating with the relevant parties in a timely and efficient way using the most appropriate media is one of the more important activities that the team will carry out during an incident. In all cases the courses were bespoked to the requirements, the risk profile, terminology, plans and specific requirments of the organisation. Incident management training is suitable for all employees, specifically those with a role in an incident team. Organizations both large and small need to have business continuity planning in place to manage unexpected business disruptions.  Whether these events are triggered by severe weather, civil unrest, product failure or any of a myriad of other factors, the time to figure out how to manage an incident is not when that incident occurs.

Typically a Business Continuity Manager is identified to lead the planning and preparedness process, and one of that person’s first responsibilities is to assemble the right team and governance structure.  For Business Continuity Management (BCM) to be effective, it is essential that the effort receives organization-wide visibility and senior management support. The first step in identifying who needs to be on a Business Continuity Team is to determine what potential events the team will be planning for.
Once the team has been identified, systems need to be put in place to facilitate virtual business continuity management because disasters can occur anytime and it is frequently impossible to assemble the team in a physical location.  Essential tools for virtual continuity management include smart notification and communications systems plus a web-based solution for incident tracking and management that enables all team members have a common operating picture of the incident as it unfolds and access to the files, plans and templates they need to execute their assigned tasks. Once the team has been assembled and systems are in place to facilitate communications across multiple device types to notify the group and sub-groups in the event of an emergency, it is important to make sure each team member understands their specific roles and responsibilities and plans are in place to execute these tasks effectively.
The typical cycle of incident management starts with threat assessment then includes communications across multiple constituencies, issue mitigation and post incident assessment.  An effective BCM team will create and test plans then adapt them post event to address weaknesses that were identified as part of the incident management process.
A centralized document collection site with built-in information gathering templates allows customers to unify, prioritize and access incident information from a single repository. High profile incidents such as the Deepwater Horizon (BP incident in the Gulf of Mexico) have shown the consequences of poor incident management.
A discussion is facilitated during which a number of different incidents are covered such as where the loss of an asset has occurred and also an event where reputation has been affected. It also looks at how incident team meetings would be conducted, how the team would interface with other teams (known as battle rhythm), implement their plan and how the team would monitor its tasks, recovery actions and activities. This section looks at situational awareness, identifying the key issues associated with the incident and the implementation of the decision making model.
It covers the use of administration personnel to help manage incident boards, using CRIPs (Commonly Recognised Information Picture), the logging of information, the legal aspects of incidents and the use of defensible decision making. This course will equip delegates with the skills and techniques required for successfully managing an incident.

PlanB can carry out two half-day sessions in a day (at the day cost) and up to 12 students can attend any session.
A one-off fee will be charged on a day rate depending on the amount of tailoring you may require and this fee may be waved is a number of courses are booked. Schedule a no-obligation demonstration of the Notification Center or Situation Center.Request DemoGet ConnectedSubscribe to receive educational resources, practical insights, news and more. You may believe that your organisation has an excellent plan in place but does your staff have the required skills to implement it effectively?
The aim is to detect and discuss which incidents would have a major impact on your organisation and cause you to invoke your plan. Once you have identified the threats, you will be in a better position to determine which people inside and outside your organization should be invited onto the BCM team to support continued business operations.
This training is aimed at team levels - Strategic (gold), Tactical (silver) and Operational (bronze).
Subjects covered throughout the duration of this training can be tailored to the requirements of each team depending on their specific roles and responsibilities. Each of the training days has a strong interactive element to it and all participants will be given several opportunities to practise the skills they have acquired throughout their training. The materials and techniques used throughout are based on best practice and many of the techniques taught are used by the government, military and emergency services to train their senior managers in how to respond to incidents.
