A variety of flooding and related phenomena place Central Alabama at risk throughout the year.
It is important that the public is aware of this information, but equally as important is the reporting of any type of flooding.  If you see any of the above, contact us! Laura said that on one street, a bunch of people were trying to get their cars out of their driveways, but it was already too late. Rob, I imagine you've probably seen a few flash floods and worse in your neck of the woods. After quickly checking on the dzong area, Sunday Market and Changjiji, I spent the rest of the day monitoring the situation in Parizampa, located slightly upstream from Dechencholing.
With the help of an excavator, RBG and RBA personnel were able to dislodge the log from the bridge and prevent a dangerous situation.
Please accept our heartfelt prayers for the safety of life and property of our Bhutanese friends. I commend Lyonpo Zimba and Lyonpo UTshering coming out on the disaster site and seeing the damages in person with their own eyes. One issue I would like to highlight and I am sure it is on everyone’s mind too is the serious drainage problems we have in the city. I know it is too petty to ask the honorable minister (Hon Lyonpo Yeshey Zimba) but could you kindly personaly look into it.
I would like to convey my condolences to the families and freinds of the reported casualities in Kuensel.
A Flash Flood is a flood caused by heavy or excessive rainfall in a short period of time, generally less than 6 hours.

A flash flood watch has been issued by the National Weather Service for San Diego County.  The watch will go into effect at midnight due to the expectation of heavy rain fall on Friday.
A strong storm out of the Pacific is expected to bring moderate to heavy rainfall to the San Diego County area, creating the risk for flash flooding beginning early Friday morning and continuing through Saturday. The greatest threat for flash flooding will be in mountainous areas and in areas of recent wildfires, where there can be flows of debris.  Coastal and valley areas, especially those low-lying urban areas with poor drainage, are also at especially high risk.
Flooding can result from a number of weather systems including slow-moving or stationary frontal systems, inland moving tropical cyclones and intense summertime thunderstorms.
A log from the old bridge there had fallen into the river, but wouldn’t be swept away as its end was anchored securely to the Bailey structure. Please take the concerned people to task and we will perhaps see many more ditches covered or taken care off within few days.
It is a tragedy.for the rest of us , we can heed to the alerts and be careful and continue to say our prayers.
There are cities built on ocean, i am sure if we do the right thing, a flood like this would be of not much big concern in future. But now most often our rivers shed their colour and engulf everything on their way down the plains.
Even the ponds fed by ground water were gone forever.Does every bhutanese know about this, the clock is ticking, we have to be ready for anything, though we are suffering in the hands of other large developed and developing Nations of the World who altered the earths Climate.
Flash floods are usually characterized by raging torrents after heavy rains that rip through river beds, urban streets, or mountain canyons sweeping everything before them. The inundation of a normally dry area caused by rising water in an existing waterway, such as a river, stream, or drainage ditch.

These systems can produce flash flooding in low lying flood prone areas and along small creeks and streams, as well as river flooding along mainstreams. And thank Ap Gem Tshering, the proprietor of Druk Chachap Construction, who quickly organized and allowed us to use his excavator.
If it wasn’t, debris could build around it and create a temporary dam, causing even more danger downstream. They can also occur even if no rain has fallen, for instance after a levee or dam has failed, or after a sudden release of water by a debris or ice jam. So we must work together, every one of us, to contain, as far as possible, the damage to life and property. Have anyone recently driven (I am sure) by the lower pilice gate heading up to the chorten. And perhaps even benefit from the sudden surge in water levels, especially during the dry season.
There is a big ditch right in the middle of the road where cars or pedestrains can easily fall victim to. It is right under the nose of the muncipality, the cops, and the RSTA but no one is taking care of it.
