Faith United Methodist Church is proudly connected to The North Texas Conference of The United Methodist Church.
The Colorado SBDC Network is here to help businesses who have been affected by recent disasters in Colorado, including devastating wildfires and floods.
After the natural disasters in the fall of 2013, the Colorado SBDC disaster relief team worked with federal, state and local resources to produce a comprehensive guide to assist Colorado businesses in preparing for, responding to, and recovering from natural disasters and emergencies. Gibbie McMillian, the Louisiana Disaster Relief State Director will be at the lunch as well as Tom Long, the Southeast Louisiana Regional Disaster Relief Coordinator.
Become better connected to one another so that NOBA churches can be more active in Disaster Relief ministry.
Discuss practical steps to take so that NOBA churches can be more active in Disaster Relief ministry. This Training is to certify new DR volunteers and to re-certify those who have had training, but the training was three years or more ago. Samaritan’s Purse asked us to build a van truck body that could be not only a command center but also a classroom and an office. Southern Baptist Disaster Relief volunteers and leaders, along with North American Mission Board’s mobile Featherlite command center, were recently dispatched to central Colorado in the wake of the devastating wildfires affecting this area. The mobile command center travels to disaster areas throughout the country and was most recently in Moore, Okla., following May’s tornadoes. The Featherlite trailer has a self-contained generator for power and a satellite system for communication needs.
North American Mission Board (NAMB) coordinates and manages Southern Baptist responses to major disasters through partnerships with 42 state Baptist conventions, most of which have their own state disaster relief programs. Featherlite is a leading manufacturer of custom trailers for mobile display, museum, training, recruiting, medical, emergency response, education, business, sport, vending and recreational purposes. Every day, around the clock, Red Cross volunteers serving on Disaster Action Teams are on call to respond to local emergencies. When a request for assistance comes to the BGCO Disaster Relief office, individual team members will be contacted to check on their availability for service during the specific response.  Length of service could be one day to a week or more. After completing feeding team training, volunteers may train in other areas of Disaster Relief service.  Assessment team members must have previous training in our Disaster Relief chain saw and mud-out recovery work.
Team members go ahead of chain saw and mud-out teams to evaluate damage and inform follow-up teams on scope of each job, including equipment that will be needed. Members must be willing to attend training sessions in chain saw operation and safety and must be able to endure strenuous outdoor work.
This group of volunteers cleans out houses, garages, sheds, barns, yards, streets and community areas, helping people to have a safe environment after a disaster has occurred.  Often the job is to gut-out a flooded building, preparing it for repair.

Child care volunteers provide a calm atmosphere and competent, loving care for children.  Care is provided to give parents the opportunity to salvage remains of belongings, meet with helping agencies and insurance representatives, and take care of other business. Child care volunteers should love children and have previous experience working with preschoolers and elementary-age children.  Team members must consent to a background check before serving. This group provides clean water after a disaster has occurred.  Portable water purification units are used to sanitize available water on location, making it safe for drinking, cooking, bathing and other uses. This website is supported through Oklahoma Baptists' gifts through the Cooperative Program. It is on this journey that we make the most of our meaningful connections in our lives as we strive to become a community of deeply devoted Christians. The best way to help right now is to pray for all those affected, and to give a monetary donation toward the relief and recovery efforts through UMCOR.

By planning before a disaster occurs and coordinating with Southern Baptist Disaster Relief, our churches can be prepared to minister during times of crisis.
The trailer is shown on site during disaster relief efforts following the tornado outbreak in the U.S.
SBDR and NAMB are both national members of the National Voluntary Organizations Active in Disaster (NVOAD).
Whether a home fire, tornado or a regional flood, trained disaster volunteer teams are ready to assess damage and provide emergency assistance. You can help those impacted by crisis by making a financial contribution, providing in-kind supplies or giving of your time to serve on a disaster action team in your community. Find out what kinds of services victims of the disaster require and work to bring those services to them.
Look for the Mission Matters table in the Connection Center at church this Sunday for more info on items being collected for Health and Cleaning Kits.
We are not meant to pass by on the other side, but we are to engage when disasters befall our neighbors.  NOBA and Southern Baptist Disaster Relief are inviting you to a lunch where you can learn more about Disaster Relief.
Two rooms and three slideouts provide plenty of space, and the central table offers a great space for coordinating disaster relief efforts.
During the initial days following a disaster, the Red Cross meets immediate individual or community needs for food, shelter, clothing and care, helping more than 1,000 residents in Southeast Tennessee every year.
With a few simple tips in mind, everyone can discover how they can assist the victims of any type of catastrophe. This can be especially helpful if you are part of a professional organization or an industry that could provide expert assistance. I wouldn’t mind producing a post or elaborating on most of the subjects you write regarding here.

Southern Baptist Disaster Relief (SBDR) has over 82,000 trained volunteers that are sent to various disasters each year and is one of the three largest mobilizers of trained disaster relief volunteers in the United States, along with the American Red Cross and The Salvation Army.
In addition, volunteers provide food and beverages to emergency responders during a disaster operation. For instance, architects and surveyors will find that their services are in demand after an earthquake. Some people can’t stand the sight of blood, but have excellent organizational and administrative skills.
Adults tend to have better coping strategies, something children are too young to have already developed.
Plant the seeds for a successful partnership today so that when the relief organization is called upon to assist with a disaster, they will know they can call upon your group for help. Put together a disaster kit including necessary supplies and create a plan for what family members should do in order to re-establish contact. The rear room is a comfortable counseling area that can be closed off from the rest of the van for private counseling sessions. Samaritan’s Purse is an organization that helps meet needs of people who are victims of war, poverty, natural disasters, disease and famine. Although it’s easy to imagine what might be needed, resist the temptation to ship anything that is unsolicited. That way, when something terrible happens, you’re ready to hit the ground running with aid that is truly effective. If that sounds like you, then you’d be surprised at the many ways your flair for organization and computers can make life easier for disaster victims.
While providing basic necessities is a great idea, also consider providing things like children’s toys and books. Take the initiative to keep yourself informed by staying in touch with relief organizations that are on site. Spread the word in your community and start a drive to make disaster preparedness a part of every household. The trailer will be used throughout the United States as part of Samaritan Purse’s efforts to help those in need at disaster sites.
Work to organize your coworkers and professional contacts to offer up their time and experience. The sight of a teddy bear or a favorite book may help re-establish a child’s sense of normalcy. Visit their websites or call their head offices to find out what’s really needed before shipping anything.
