Mark Zillmann, a blind piano tuner, plays notes as he tunes the piano at the N'awlins Jazz Bar in Toronto, Wednesday February 9, 2016. Recently expatriated from France to settle in Montreal, I actually studdy in HEC Montreal and have been playing the piano for 10 years. I have already taught the piano and the solfege to children of all ages from beginner level to intermediate. I'm very curious and open minded, so I teach all styles of music, from classical music to contemporary music or whatever your children like to motivate them (partitions supplied).
On January 30th, I was an audience member at Yorkminster Park Baptist Church, while the choir sang a beautiful concert full of choral warhorses, conducted by the young guest conductors who had been tutored by Noel Edison during the previous week. Toronto Mendelssohn Choir sing Psalm 100 by Stuart Beatch, winner of the Debbie Fleming Prize for Choral Composition. After the horns were added to Promises Promises, and I Say A Little Prayer, we were ready to mix. Finally, after mixing, mastering and putting the CD cover together – the CDs were manufactured, and ready for pick up on April 20th.
Debbie proudly displays the first copy of her CD, after picking them up at Number 9 Audio Group. May 26th was an amazing evening at the Jazz Bistro for the launch of Full Circle-Back to Bacharach. Colina Phillips sang some beautiful feature songs, as well as added her voice to the backup vocals, while Debbie sang.
The band was amazing – Mark Kieswetter, Ross MacIntyre, Charlie Coolie, Ted Quinlan, Chase Sanborn and John MacMurchie played beautifully. The singers were also excellent – The Hampton 4 and Colina Phillips sang their backups with perfection, and Debbie sang with strength, conviction, and total love for the songs she chose to record on this special CD.

Saturday March 29th was designated as Earth Hour throughout the world, and in order to do our very small part to conserve the rapidly depleting energy sources of our planet, we were all asked to simply turn off our lights between 8 and 9 pm on March 29th. Interesting how quiet an audience is when they’re not bombarded with the amped up sounds blasting from the stage. Doug Riley, ueber-talented keyboardist from Toronto, passed on suddenly Aug.27, 2007 at the age of 62. Two days after Doug died, while carrying him around in my heart and soul every waking minute, the chorus of a song came to me. During this concert, Song For The Doctor was performed as the grand finale to the show, with the full monte of singers and horns, as it was recorded. Toronto's premiere chamber music organization, Music Toronto, is once again presenting the St. While the COC is still in the process of gearing up to its winter season, the Richard Bradshaw Amphitheatre noon hour concert series are humming this week. When you are made to feel like a friend it’s hard to refuse the drink at the end of the day. Nature is beautiful and too was our couple Yuki and Laband who got us for their engagement photos. For their second session, Yuki and Laband wanted to have engagement photos at Whitby Lions Promenade at the lighthouse where the proposal happened. We began the session two hours before dusk to capture some fun, and romantic photos along the beach shore. When my assistant and I went to meet her at Glen Cairne Golf Course a couple weeks before to discuss the final details, we must have driven by the entrance a couple times (its quite hidden) before finally finding our way inside.  The club house was quite impressive and I was curious to see how I could incorporate it into shots throughout the day. Two weeks flew by and my assistant Geoff Reiner (check out his blog here) were on our way to start with a few shots of the ladies getting ready.
Chris Liehmann is a Toronto Wedding Photographer, specializing in wedding and engagement photography. Sam Broverman sits onstage under the canopy, and Al Mair sits in the front row under a brolly. Paul’s Choir, under the direction of Eric Robertson (top left) just before Eric was fired. As part of its Piano Virtuoso series, Algerian pianist Mehdi Ghazi is presenting The Colours of Passion, a recital of works by Rachmaninov, Prokofiev, Messiaen and Liszt on Tuesday Jan. La Scena Musicale's award-winning website SCENA.org has been a world leader of classical music and arts news since 1996. One thing more beautiful than the colours of autumn was our couple Joyce and Moises who chose the 1st for their wedding day. With the wedding and reception at a country club, I knew that the day was going to be above par and unforgettable. So to celebration their love, they decided to have small picnic under canopies of pretty pink & white cherry blossom trees ( Sakura tree ).

Thank you so much for making me a part of your special day!  You were a pleasure to work with, good luck on this next part of your journey together! Blind since he was 2, the 37-year-old native of Zephyr, Ont., tunes and maintains pianos across the city. It seems a lot of people want to hear well written songs from that era – written by great writers like Bachrach and David, and sung by singers like Dionne Warwick, Aretha Franklin, Marvin Gaye, Petula Clark  and many more. Here’s a Youtube video of me singing When A Man Loves A Woman   with the great band including Michael Fonfara on keys, and Terry Blersh on Guitar.
January is Mozart Month in Toronto, as classical music venues big and small are featuring the composer's works.
The LSM Blog is the place for commentary and news on music and the arts in Canada and around the world. The banquet area was classy with a grand piano perfect for pictures,  and outdoors with lush green golf course.
Spring started late so to our dismay it also delayed the blooming season, prompting a few session rescheduling. We spoke to him at the King Street West jazz bar and restaurant N’Awlins, one of his clients. Can you talk about your musical and educational background, growing up?My first exposure to music would have been German folk music, at home. After two weeks the blooming forecast finally gave the thumbs up that the blooms were at 80%,  so we called the couple, grabbed our cameras and got these wonderful shots.
Pat Irwin, with whom I sing in the Toronto Mendelssohn Choir, the move itself was smoothly implimented. Piano lessons were part of the curriculum for children. When I was older, I took a piano-tuning course there. I play them after I tune a piano.Mark Zillmann tunes many pianos around town, including the upright at N’awlins Jazz Bar on King Street West.
It takes 1,000 tunings before you become a competent piano tuner. You tune pianos on a regular basis all over town, at the Robert Lowrey Piano Experts store, at the University of Toronto and at different bars and music rooms. Do you have a relationship with the instruments, where you know the idiosyncrasies of the individual pianos?Yes. For example, because the piano at the Cameron House is old and because of the environment it’s in, it’s prone to broken strings.Oh, I bet I know who’s responsible for that. She made the moment important. Are there any pianos in town that you don’t tune, but would like to?A piano I would love to work on would be the one at Jazz Bistro. I imagine it’s a lovely piano.Toronto is such a great city for music, with its venues and players.
On occasion I take the opportunity to relax and hear a couple of sets of music, after I tune a piano.
It’s just a nice way to appreciate my own work. This interview has been edited and condensed.
