It’s one of several papers today making the link between the virus, which is thought to be transmitted to humans via infected bush meat, and markets such as Ridley Road which have previously been found to trade in the illegal food.
An investigation by the BBC back in 2012 alleged that Ridley Road Market was “a known hotbed of illicit meat activity” and found traders selling bush meat such as cane rats.

Meanwhile, Ridley Road Market also secures honourable mentions in similar stories published by the Telegraph and the Express, although it should be said that none of the papers appear to have successfully managed to buy any bush meat at the market. On the downside, today’s concern relates to the ebola virus, which the paper claims is on its way to Ridley Road Market in Dalston.
