Safety is important for workers at Patio Pools and Spas, and an ADOC grant helped Human Resources Manager Chris Hazen put her employees, such as Mark Ragel (back, from left), Aaron Brewer, Suzie Diaz, Kristen Baluta and Kristie Roach, through the necessary training. Founded in 1969 by Gene Ragel, Patio Pools and Spas is the largest full-service pool company in southern Arizona.
Patio Pools and Spas employs 350 people in a variety of positions, from sales and retail staff to construction and field tech crew to office personnel.
Human Resources Manager Chris Hazen said Patio Pools and Spas recently applied for and received a grant, which they are using for safety and ISO training as well as some customer service training.

Patio Pools and Spas utilizes its new training center to conduct new employee orientations.

In its 37 years of business, the company has built more than 16,000 swimming pools and installed more than 8,000 spas. This center, which is funded by Patio and not through grant money, offers training to existing staff in management, leadership skills, computer software training and additional training in safety and customer service, including Train the Trainer programs.
