Don't apply a weed preventer (liquid or granular) or use weed and feed fertilizer when planning to sow grass. Grass seed labels help you determine characteristics of the grass, such as amount of daylight, hardiness and moisture requirements.
Creeping grasses, like bluegrass, Bermuda and most warm-season grasses spread by above- or below-ground runners. Blade - What most of us call a blade of grass is actually a complex combination of the grass stem, sheath and nodes.
In addition to reading the label, there should be a coverage chart to help you determine how much seed you'll need for your application. Over the past 38 years, PRI’s native landscaping professionals have helped hundreds of Midwest homeowners restore their properties.  This is our focus and this is what we are good at. If you have poor soil, you could lightly apply an organic fertilizer after seeding, although this is not a necessary step for strong growth. Make sure that the pre- or post-emergent herbicides and fertilizers you purchase are approved for use on your type of grass. You must keep newly seeded lawns moist by light, frequent watering in order for the seeds to germinate. We also have a retail store which carries the grasses and flowers, as well as many other nature related items such as books, artwork, and t-shirts. Years of breeding and evaluation work by some of the country's leading turf grass specialists have resulted in a slow-growing, naturally-dwarf fescue grass with superior density and durability. For most grasses, this is about 3-6 weeks after planting, but could be longer depending on growing conditions.
