We only have two applications; neither plan to pursue one of the Scholarship required professions; and their grades are not outstanding/maybe suspect in an area. Our Scholarship committee will review the applications/situation and make a recommendation to the Club.

NEW BUSINESS

* Lions Jennifer Manthe is working on two articles for the Informer and we should see these shortly. If you have something for her rough it out and give it to her...

*Lion Don Repass reported that Lens Crafters in Greenwood was working a second request for glasses as the request was from an F T resident. Exam and eyeglasses cost is $ 50.00 per.

*Lion Jeff Cougill has agreed to act as the Clubs liaison with the FT schools for the first grade Flag Day plans sometime in late April.

*Lion Jeff Cougill discussed his findings regarding the establishment of a LEO Club at the High School. More work between the two groups is needed. A LEO Club at FCHS would have to meet after school and would require both a school and Lion Club sponsor. The school sponsor might require pay? Certainly there is more to come here!!

TAIL TWISTER

Lion Floyd Selke collected $ 3.25 without working his LION! WOW! These fines just keep adding up!!

ADJOURNMENT

Lion Tom Potts, Sr. moved for adjournment. Motion passed!

ANNOUNCEMENTS AND CORRESPONDENCE

Lion Ron Jennings made the following announcements:

The Speaker for the March 11th meeting will be Lion Bill Barker who will talk on LEO CLUBS. Come and listen as our Club is considering the possibility of starting a Leo club at Franklin Central High School.

The State Convention is April 16-18th at Fort Wayne this year. Also, District 25F holds its special Convention meeting at 8:30 AM on the 17 th at the State Convention. Our Club has 2 votes on the eight proposed MS 25 District Constitutional changes and for a new International Director. PDG Tom Slattery is the District 25F nominee. See the "Indiana Lion" paper for information; let Lion Don Repass know if you can attend!

Staffing for the 25F Vision Van was discussed. The van requires approximately 4 Lions in addition to an eye professional to operate the Vision Van. Lion Bob Jackson is scheduled to take the training and could help if the Club gets the van for Old Settlers Day; but more Lions will be needed. A question if there will be enough FT Lions to cover every thing at OSDay was raised? This needs to be assessed. Training for Lions to be screeners in the Vision Van can be made available locally if the class size is 10 or more Lions. Having this local training for Franklin Twp. Lions was discussed. A survey will be made by Lion Ron Jennings of FT Lions to see if there is a commitment by 10 Ft Lions who would take the training if it were scheduled locally in Franklin Twp. between now and the Old Settlers Day Event. It was noted that Training for the Vision Van staffing will be provided at the upcoming 25F Cabinet Meeting scheduled for March 21st.

Lion Jerry Hannigan passed out the Camp Woodsmoke News Letters and announced a planned work day! The planned Woodsmoke work date is Sat. April 10th; let Lion Jerry know if you can help out!!

The slate of officers for the Club for Lions Year 2004-5 is nearly filled and will be released at the March 11th meeting. Voting for our officers will be at the March 25th meeting!

Contact Lion Don Repass if you can attend the Sunday March 21st Spring Cabinet Meeting in Versailles Indiana. He will coordinate reservations and travel plans.

OLD BUSINESS

Lion Ed Puckett reported that he was still trying to get up to speed on the Eyeglasses and Hearing Aid Program; collections are still running good!

Lion Floyd Selke reported Trash bag sales of $184.00 and again reminded us of the lack of total Club support of sales. A discussion on how to improve sales ensued. More people need to sell trash bags. Lion Ron Jennings suggested that at a future club meeting on the 4th Thursday of the month, he would schedule a group of FT Lions to meet with Lion Floyd during the committees meetings session to come up with some ideas and plans to increase sales of trash bags.

Lion Don Repass reported for the Ring Liquidation Committee. Lion Leroy Harlow's second appraisal was for $1875; much less than the appraisal received from Lewis Jewelry. It has been decided that we will ask Lewis Jewelry to sell to ring on consignment and set the price so that the FT Lions Club will realize the $3000 appraised value. Lion Ron will check to make sure a "letter of thanks" was sent to the donator of the ring!

Lion Jerry Hannigan reported for the 6 members that visited the Warren Township Club On Feb. 17th.

Lion Ron Jennings reviewed the VD Governor Carl Sharp's request that our club sponsor or co-sponsor the 2005 Mid Winter Conference (MWC). Lion Randy Faunce has contact the Franklin Central High School Administration and determined the cost of the F T High School to be about $100. 00, primarily for janitorial costs. A call to Lion Bill Boer of the Speedway Club outlined the efforts required of the Club. (See Randy's email). The club voted to sponsor the MWC as long as we could set the cost to insure we cover expenses. Lion Floyd Selke will investigate catering costs for approximate 130 to 150 lions! Lion Ron J will email VDG Carl Sharp that FT Lions Club will host the MWC in 2005 but that while we will try to get the best deals on food, etc., we will set the price such that our club will recover our expenses.

Lion Randy Faunce reported IU (maybe the NIT?) Raffle Book sales of a total of 132 books. Net is expected to be about $1500. One of the winners donated $25.00 back to the Club. Thanks Randy!

Lion Randy Faunce stated that the Clubs Website is almost ready. He requested that if any one in the Club has pictures that they think would help that they get them to him. Check Randy's email for address! Thanks to Lion Randy for his work on our FT Lions Club Website!!

Placement of the Clubs' two banner patches from International for "2002-3 Membership Recruiting" and "2002-3 Presidents Retention Campaign" will be decided later.

Lion Ron Peterson made a motion that we advertise Old Settler Day in The Camp Woodsmoke news letter for 3 months at a cost of $ 50.00; motion passed. Lion Jerry H will arrange to get it done when he gets the information from Lion Ron.

Lion Ron Jennings read letters from the American Diabetes Association concerning support of screening and from the Indiana State Police concerning support of their camp. These requests were passed on to Lion Ron Peterson for the Community Needs Committee for deliberation and recommendations. These will be considered at a later meeting.
