After the excitement of launching my novel, and hitting the Irish Times and USA Today best sellers in May, I really couldn’t have dared to dream for anything more. While I was on holiday in Portugal last week, I received the amazing news that THE GIRL WHO CAME HOME had made the New York Times best sellers list. I am so blown away by this and even more delighted to see that The Girl held her own and has been listed for a second week in succession, holding her own at #15 on combined list this week and at #10 on the ebook fiction list! Of course, there is so much more to a book, and the author, being considered successful than hitting best seller lists. For a novel that caused me such heartache when it was initially rejected by publishers, and for a novel that I have now spent three years with (writing, self publishing and re-publishing with William Morrow), I just could not be happier to see that readers are enjoying Maggie’s story as much as I enjoyed researching and writing it.

I suppose it is proof, if proof were needed, that you should NEVER give up on anything you believe passionately about because you just never know what delights might be waiting for you when you turn the page. To even be mentioned on the same page as such incredible authors as Donna Tartt, Stephen King, Gillian Flynn and Christina Baker Kine is just amazing. The lovely, personal, heartfelt messages I have received from readers to tell me how much they’ve enjoyed the book, mean more to me than anything. I believed in this book when so many other didn’t – being listed in the New York Times gives me great faith in my stubborn refusal to go away! It’s lovely to hear from readers and I appreciate you taking the time to let me know that you enjoyed the book!

It is also wonderful to see that the book is now in its sixth consecutive week on the USA Today best sellers list.
I have read several nonfiction books that have been written and there are conflicting information in each book so it is hard to decide what is accurate!!
