Last week I had the pleasure of participating in the 3rd annual Salesforce Higher Education Summit at the University of Miami. During every session, from the large keynotes to the more intimate break-out sessions, the message was clear: there needs to be a better, more relevant way to communicate with potential students, current students, and alumni, as well as their families. To be totally transparent, Salesforce has a lot to gain by moving into the higher education sector.

I believe the Foundation really wants to transform how institutions working for a social good operate for the better. Walking around the Summit, it was a who’s who of Salesforce heavyweights which speaks volumes to the emphasis being placed at the Foundation to ensure that progress and innovation is constant. The student body is changing and schools wanting to meet their constituents on their own turf will need to change with them.


Though it’s easy to see why naysayers may have their reservations about the role technology plays in our lives and work, the reality is, technology can actually work in our favor as we strive to improve engagement.
Engaged employees are open and interested in collaborating on big picture ideas that can drive the success of your organization. It’s why companies like Apple and Google have risen to their positions as innovation giants.
With the combination of the SalesForce platform and the experience of Deltak, Engage SRP could raise the bar for other CRM vendors.

In my opinion, one of the benefits of Engage SRP is the use of the standard SalesForce CRM components. This is a gap for some CRM solutions that started in business or in one area of the student life cycle.
Along with adding Pat to the Foundation’s staff, there has been a clear prioritization from the Salesforce Foundation that they want to help the higher education community achieve their goals and will incorporate the most successful Foundation contributors to that cause. Software vendors are trying to add this capability to the products with various levels of success.
