This one-day certified refresher course is designed to re-equip the participants with the knowledge, skill and competence to provide and co-ordinate first aid in the workplace in compliance with the requirements of the Safety, Health and Welfare at Work (General Application) Regulations 2007 and the associated guide to these regulations. All employees wishing to refresher their original occupational first aid FETAC level 5 training. An introduction to First Aid, including the legal aspects of first aid in the workplace and shows the first aiders how they can protect themselves emotionally and physically.
The student will be able to assess a scene and a casualty and ensure that they follow the correct protocols in treating a patient. This Pre-Hospital Emergency Care Council module covers CPR and AED use on adults, CPR on children and infants, as well as ensuring students know how to treat stroke patients.
Examining how the body works in terms of the circulatory system, the effect that blood loss has on the body and how to control that blood loss and minimise infection. This module ensures that the students can treat patients who have an injury or medical problem which is impacting on their level of consciousness. After completing this section, the first aiders will be able to treat fractures, sprains and strains and deal with other muscular or skeletal injuries which can happen in the work place. Following this module, the student will be competent to treat a number of injuries which are common in the workplace. This course is designed to give first aider’s in the workplace the opportunity to update the necessary skills and knowledge to continue to perform the duties of a workplace first aider.
Candidates can start this training up to three months before their certificate expires or within a month of its expiry.


Training is delivered using relevant practical and realistic casualty simulation techniques. This 2-day course meets the requirements of the HSE and will give candidates the knowledge and confidence to refresh their first aid skills.
HSE strongly recommend that first aider’s in the workplace undertake annual refresher training of at least 3 hours within any three-year certification period.
The Health and Safety (First-Aid) Regulations 1981 require employers to provide suitable first-aid equipment, facilities and personnel so that immediate assistance can be given to employees if they are injured or become ill at work. EFAW training enables a first-aider to give emergency first aid to someone who is injured or becomes ill while at work. On Completion candidates will receive a First Aid manual, A4 certificate and First Aid id card valid for 3 years. We are based in Scotland and can easily cover courses at short notice throughout the Glasgow and Edinburgh areas. The last thing you want to do is to panic and forget the steps because you have not been practicing the steps. Candidates who fall outside these timing will be required to complete the 3-day first aid at work course.

Upon successful completion candidates will be awarded a certificate of attendance which is valid for three years. Subjects covered include the definition of anaphylaxis, recognition, symptoms, causes and treatments. If they wish to continue to be certified as an occupational first aider, a three day course must be re-completed. If you have attended the First Aid Level 1 course first, you will have a much clearer understanding of the process.
A training defib will be used to demonstrate and then used as practice, on a manikin, by students . At the end of the CPR refresher course, we will practically assess you to make sure that you grasp the concept in full. Upon successful completion candidates will be awarded a certificate which is valid for three years.
