Any major disaster could temporarily overwhelm Police, Fire and Ambulance and First Responders. Professional emergency workers are rapidly overwhelmed in mass emergencies so trained, organized, responsible volunteers are extremely valuable.
The posting also provides specific procedures to follow for building evacuation and response to the GoldAlert emergency notification system.
Residents of other areas should contact their local municipality or county government for information on local emergency plans. Organizations like Community Emergency Response Teams and the Red Cross are ready sources of trained volunteers.
