Unless you are specifically applying to ONE particular job, it is highly recommended that you leave the objective off of your resume. If you are looking for a job that is not genre specific, either skip the objective part or fill it in with something that can apply to multiple employers. You only need to go into specifics if you are applying to a particular (special field) job that you are sincerely interested in.
Chances are if a company is using something like career builder, they are being constantly overwhelmed by applications every  second. If you are currently in this situation, then you know that college opens the doors but experience is what gets you the job. If you have gaps of employment, try to fill them in as much as possible with things that you were doing that can account for job related activities (even if you were a stay at home mother). Photos are not necessary, unless you are applying for a model or acting position (See resume below for an example).
Ever search around for a free resume template just to find some unhelpful career advice website burying their stingy resume tips under heaps of bull$hit?
To help, I’ve put together 3 free Microsoft Word resume templates to help you get writing. Choose the chronological resume format if you have a steady work history with few breaks, if you’re staying in the same field, or if your job titles show increased responsibility and higher position levels.
Consider using the functional resume format if you want to highlight specific skills, if you’re re-entering the job market after an absence, when you have a wide variety of different or unrelated work experiences, or if you’re looking for your first job as a new college graduate. Use the combination resume format to highlight your transferable skills from numerous jobs or volunteer work, when your work experience differs from your desired career path, or if most of your work had been short term.

Just to be clear I’m not writing your resume, but rather sharing some ideas on how to make it killer.
I’ll pick my TWO favorite 140 character submissions on Tuesday May 5th and contact the winners privately to send me their resumes. I’m really looking forward to seeing what you can do in 140 characters to convince me to critique your resume! Really useful templates; however I would add something that is definitely becoming even more important, particularly within the UK and EU job markets. CV or resume heat map information is now showing that recruiters or employers are now looking at documents on screen for around the 15 second mark.
The importance of highlighting achievements within previous job roles is even more important.
If the reader can see quickly what you have delivered for employers in the past, the chances of making it past the first sift are greatly increased, especially as so many recruiters are time poor. This resume works well as a reference for teachers in grade school to middle school levels. The headline is then supported by summary statements that provide more details about their career experience. Thankfully, writing a simple resume that lists all your academic and occupational experiences is simple enough. So if you want to write an effective resume, the following tips will tell you what you should and shouldn’t do when creating a resume. Categorize each page according to work experience, personal details, academic history and personal affiliations. Include references and contact information on all the people that you’ve worked with. America and other countries have improved drastically for women's right, however, in specific fields there are a lot of people who are extremely chauvinistic. When writing a skills summary as shown in the resume example featured above, be sure to write how many years of experience you have in certain areas. Generally, unless the employer is extremely picky, it is okay to list the most recent 3 jobs. An education is extremely important to mention on your resume, especially if the job requires you to have a certain level of education, however, do not be deceived. Never give out your references until you have hit a serious point in your job hiring process. To eliminate these potential employment gaps in the future, always volunteer or do something that will keep employers from wondering why you have not worked for 10 years. Fancy may look cute, but the person who is doing the hiring may get slightly annoyed if your resume is hard to read. Check out the article about resume formats to help you choose the right resume template for your situation. Here’s a functional resume example if you need to see this resume template in action!
Check out this combination resume example to help you decide if this resume format is for you. So if you’ve been sending out your skills with no employer bites, now’s your chance to get a little resume advice for free!
I’ll then write up a private resume critique to help the winners improve their resume and hopefully get them closer to landing that job interview.

If there’s enough interest (and with your permission) I may even write a post to share the best 140 character entries!
When listing achievements, separate yourself prom the crowd through detailing the employer derived as a result of what you achieved.
I have applied for several positions, but have not been shorted listed for an interview nor have been notified for any. Taylor is the creator and lone writer of Squawkfox, a personal finance blog where consumer savvy is fun.
Professional development workshops and conferences are listed at the bottom to demonstrate how this professional is actively improving their teaching skills. All you need to do is go on Google, look for a template, copy the template and then insert all the relevant stuff about yourself on your new resume. This will allow the person reading your resume to find what he or she is looking for more easily.
If you’re applying for a particular job that emphasizes experience over academic background then you should edit your resume to emphasize what is required.
References add prestige to your resume, and you’re more likely to be hired if you can show certain credentials about your previous jobs and projects.
This portion requires you to list your dates of employments, and what you specifically did at each job.
Some people have been working for a long time and most people can not remember half of the places they have worked. DO NOT BE KNOWN AS A LAZY PERSON BEFORE YOU ARE EVEN GIVEN A CHANCE TO WALK IN FOR AN INTERVIEW. Unless, the company requires a range in a cover letter, it is best to stay away from numbers.
Always have the names present and the people you use should be aware that you are using them as a reference. I fully admit that landing a job interview isn’t easy, but putting your best foot forward with an exceptional resume is a sure fire way to get some face time with a hiring manager. Even if you make everything look professional and neat (both of which are important by the way), you have to face the very strong possibility that only certain parts of your resume will matter to those who read it. To do this, you should consider copying an example or using a template, as most of them can show you what an ideal resume should look like. When completing this section, always start with your current job first and list your previous jobs AFTER your current job. I know the economy is cool and your resume has got to be hot to get noticed amongst the competition. Financial benefits hit hardest so if you have increased sales, profit, gross margin, customer numbers and the like then say so and show how much money your previous employer gained as a result.
This includes changing your currently ridiculous voice messages into something  not as shocking.
If you have been at any job for a long period of time, then it is definitely a great idea to showcase this within your resume.
