Lone Survivor is a is a post-apocalyptic psychological horror game with retro-styled 2D graphics. In Telltale’s emotionally evocative adventure game, corpses are returning to life and survivors will stop at nothing to maintain their own safety. It may not be perfect as a game but it’s the perfect showcase for what the Wii U is all about.
What Lucius has at its disposal is a brilliant concept, albeit marred by some flaws in the gameplay.
Project Zero 2: Wii Edition is not only the scariest game on the system, but also one of the scariest games I have ever played. Why You Should Play It: Besides the sanity effects, which Nintendo trademarked, the gameplay is very good. What Makes It So Scary: Not only do the mannequins make an appearance, but there is a little scene with a bear. Why You Should Play It: Condemned 2 follows in the footsteps of its predecessor, so it is first-person and the combat is melee based. What It Is: A group of High School students stay late at school to clean up after a festival.
Why You Should Play It: Corpse Party is hands down one of the best horror game to be released this generation.
What It Is: Twin sisters Mio and Mayu are visiting an old childhood spot, which is about to be cleared out for the construction of a dam.
What Makes It So Scary: Mio has to look for a way to free her twin from the spell that is cast upon her.
Just recently we shared the teasing news that Alone In The Dark is making another comeback, which raised our eyebrows considering the Wii release of dubious quality and the general panning that the last rebirth of the franchise endured on multiple platforms. Players control an isolated, surgical mask-wearing survivor of an infection which has turned the world’s population into aggressive, shambling mutants. Protecting an orphaned girl named Clementine may be the only thing to preserve your humanity in a world gone to hell. The Walking Dead is among the greatest examples available that video games have something to say, and can be about far more than gunplay, collecting items, or multiplayer. It was created in a Something Awful forum thread that held a contest for making scary paranormal pictures. It ended up becoming an infamous free indie horror game with no weapons and no fighting. The backstory is disturbingly dark; the ghosts are brilliant in the way that they manage to seem equally threatening and tragic, and the constant feeling of vulnerability as you explore the cursed mansions is impressive. He currently teaches in university, develops games, and writes about the video game industry. But, Project Zero 2: Wii Edition from 2012 was a complete remake, which is why we included it.
For those that don’t know, she is the mastermind behind the Phantasy Star series and Skies of Arcadia. On their way, a mysterious force causes the shuttle to crash, killing many of the passengers on board.
Since you are defenseless, your only options when faced with a ghost is either to appeal to its good nature or to run. The only thing he remembers after waking up is his name, that he is being hunted, and he needs to kill the baron of the castle. Shortly after leaving the cage, Fiona meets and befrinds a white German Shepherd named Hewie. Throughout the rest of Eternal Darkness you will control other people throughout different time periods that all have a connection to the Tome. Sadly, one of their friends will be transferring schools the next day, so they decide to tell scary ghost stories and perform a charm that will keep them friends forever.
Despite the lack of animated cutscene’s, the wonderful art stills and fantastic voice acting depicting the grisly deaths will send shivers down your spine.

Mayu, the older one, wanders off after seeing a crimson butterfly and Mio follows closely behind. While looking for her sister, Mio is also tasked with unraveling the mysteries of the village and the truth behind the eerie Shinto ritual that must be performed repeatedly for an eternity. He's the guy to thank for the generally brilliant nature of the content which massages your eyeballs on a daily basis.
The game design hearkens to the early days of survival horror; ammo is hard to find, health is hard to find, and the zombies need a serious beating from your cricket bat before they quiet down. At least if what you are looking for is in fact horror, rather than action. The game is a definite return to form for the entire series. The goal of the game is simple, you must find eight notes about the Slender Man, all unnervingly demented scrawls.
You innocently move around the house and orchestrate horrific accidents to kill all your family members and residents of the house. The game will haunt you dynamically so you can never rely on the same things happening the same way in a second playthrough. Paranormal is about recreating the haunted house experience, and it does that exceptionally well. It’s true that there is very little reason to come back to the game once you’ve seen the credits roll, but the journey getting there is easily worth the ticket price. Fear, dread, helplessness, making your heart pound and of course, forcing you to change your pants. Also, certain areas have a limited air supply, and firing your gun in these areas will deplete the air supply even faster.
After awakening from the crash, Richard is on a quest to find his fiance and put to rest the spirits that now wander the base.
Together, they must find a way to escape from the castle, all the while evading the creepy denizens therein. Don’t take that as a knock though, there are plenty of puzzles to solve, plenty of scares, and an intriguing story.
However, he is quickly recruited back by his former organization, and is tasked with finding out what is going on in Metro City. One thing that adds to the immersion is that your melee weapons will break after repeated use, making the encounters all the more intense. What makes Fatal Frame II scary is the fact that you are armed only with the Camera Obscura. Unsurprisingly — considering the development newcomers Pure FPS are behind the game — it's a first-person title, with the accompanying press release confusing itself by saying it's in the "survival horror genre" before explaining that it's all about battling "through challenging missions and dynamic environments filled with blood-thirsty beasts in order to rid an abandoned town of its mysterious curse of Darkness". It’s thrilling, scary, stylish atmospheric adventure with sounds and music that combine for an experience that feels like a 2D version of Silent Hill.
This is not a story of zombies, but is the tale of one man among a group of people struggling to live…or perhaps waiting to die, in the middle of a zombie apocalypse. Everyone who was disappointed with the direction RE5 and RE6 took will want to check this out: it successfully mixes the memorable claustrophobic environments of the older games with the playability of the action entries and never gets boring for a single moment. If you are in the market for a classic survival horror adventure or want one last fling on the Wii, you owe it to yourself to get this game.
Sadly, horror games have become a rare breed as of late, but that is a subject for another day. Of course, the only sensible thing to do is to collect it and bring it into a secret research facility under the ocean, what could possibly go wrong? Including everything from dealing with asphyxiation, drowning, fighting mutants, saving survivors, walking while aiming, and a creepy story,  Deep Fear looked like the beginning of a great horror franchise. Daniel must solve puzzles in order to navigate through the castle, find notes to piece together what is going on, and try to survive the monsters. At first it will just be screams or the ceilings will start to bleed, the usual horror tropes.

Also, since Ethan is an alcoholic, you have to regularly drink in order to combat his withdrawals.
The students are taken to Heavenly Host Elementary, the site of grisly murders and is haunted by the souls that were killed there. The game provides you with feelings and immersion that commercial survival horrors are after. The game has the best graphics you’ll be seeing on the 3DS for quite a while, the music is nothing short of excellent, and the story will keep you guessing until the last chapter. Deadlight follows the journey of Randall Wayne, a man searching for his family across Seattle during the aftermath of a 1980s event that has decimated life on earth. Unplug the phone, turn off the lights, put your headphones on, and try to come up with some believable explanation as to why you are screaming in falsetto so late at night, for when your neighbours ask. Everyone knows of Resident Evil and Silent Hill, but do you know Deep Fear? Here are eight great overlooked horror games that have  been released over the years. Sadly, the game launched during the last year of the Saturn’s existence and never had a chance to catch on. Some of the ghosts are friendly, and you need to bring them a personal item to put them to rest. Why You Should Play It: One of the draws of Haunting Ground is the bond between Fiona and the dog Hewie. Add in the signature haunted-house type scares, forensics, and twist-filled story,  and Condemned 2: Bloodshot is well worth the time for any horror fan. The only way to defeat the ghosts is by taking their picture, and trust me it is way harder and scarier than it sounds. However, there is a remake for the Wii out in Europe and Japan (sorry North American gamers).
You can see a teaser trailer below, so let us know what you think, and whether you're disappointed that it's PC-only at this stage.
This visually stunning Cinematic Survival Platformer will challenge you to run, jump, climb, and struggle for your life as you look for answers and the ones you love.
Stay in the darkness for too long, or stare at a monster for a while, and Daniel may start to hear and see things. If you call yourself a horror fan, you better have played Fatal Frame II: Crimson Butterfly.
If you stay in the vicinity of a malicious ghost for too long, Richard will die of a heart attack. If you haven’t, you better be willing to sacrifice something dear to you in order to experience this game. Also, the feeling of weightlessness is a nice touch that adds even more to the sense of immersion.
It’s a simple premise but one that rapidly becomes incredibly tense and scary, and proves what a scary concept the Slenderman is.
It’s hard to explain, but Haunting Ground is a game where you must be escorted to safety. Is there a game you think deserves to be on this list (Slender was a contestant), or is there a game you think shouldn’t be on here?
