Adams argues that the historical memory of America's involvement in World War II has been sanitized and replaced by a common set of misconceptions that borders on folklore.
Professional historians lauded Adams for his willingness to challenge stereotypes surrounding the war. Adams takes issue with the glamorization of the "ball gunners," the crew members on B-17 missions who operated the bottom turret guns. I'll admit it: when it comes to exploring Minecraft worlds, I tend to be a little bit lazy. With that said, even though I'm lazy, I still want to see all of the cool things that the game has to offer. If you're a lazy adventurer like me and want to see some really cool stuff without moving around too much, here are 20 of the best Minecraft seeds that I've found so far.
It's a little hard to tell from the screenshot, but yes, that wood you see in the ravine is part of an exposed stronghold. Mushroom biomes can be tough to find (unless you're one of those creative mode cheats with your flying super powers).
This skeleton dungeon isn't immediately visible -- you'll have to do a little bit of excavation to expose the chests and the entrance (this screenshot, obviously, is from my post-excavation). This is definitely one of the most impressive craters I've ever seen, and it happens to be right around this seed's spawn point.
I'm not really a survival island type of person (there are few things less satisfying to me than digging out an underground fortress with my bare knuckles), but I do like to play that way from time to time as the mood arises. This Minecraft seed will spawn you right next to a large village in front of a nice mountain range. Aside from a caulrdon (and potential witch spawn), there isn't really much that's too remarkable about witch huts. There are many seeds that will spawn you close to a desert temple, but this is the only one I've found that's on the edge of 3 different biomes. When it comes to pure building potential (and Dali-like physics), this is one of my favorite Minecraft seeds. This seed will spawn you close to a village that's pretty much submerged in water (ironically, the only thing in the village that isn't directly next to water is the well). I'm honestly not sure if this is a great Minecraft seed or a horrible one, but I like it so it's on the list. These don't work, but I tried 'england' and it spawned me in the water but when I looked around I had flower mayhem infront of me on a plain biome with a swamp to the left, and mountain biome behind the swamp, flat land to the left of the swamp and a forrest behind me filled with cows and sheep!
After all, who but the most drunkenly drunk numb-nuts is going to take over the office Christmas party dancefloor and present something as extravagant as the tango or the cha-cha-cha?
And which self-respecting chap in the real world feels comfortable enough to slip into a body-sock come Friday night so that he can rumba his way through the crowds at the Ritzy?
It’s about the moves you shamelessly steal from the movies and music videos and the mindless routines handed down through the generations, the shapes you cut that make you smile rather than sit back and applaud. Surely classic formations like Big Fish, Little Fish, Cardboard Box have more relevance than anything Bruno Tonioli or Len Goodman might order John Sergeant to do?
One of the most underrated moves is a casual glance to one shoulder and the simple fingertip brushing away of imaginary dust – listed here as the Mr Distinguished. Other class A moves unravelled here are the slinky sideways V-signs used by Uma Thurman down at Jack Rabbit Slims in Pulp Fiction and The Ickey Shuffle, a bit of spinny razzmatazz borrowed from the world of American Football. Maybe I’ll pass on that riot and concentrate on something as serenely simple as Stack The Shelves and Climb A Ladder.
I think we can all agree, the best thing about the Disney animated musicals, are the villain songs. There’s just something hilarious about a bunch of classic Disney villains booting Mickey and Minnie out of the House of Mouse.
Kaa the snake isn’t the main villain of The Jungle Book (obviously Sheer-khan the tiger is), and as a bad guy, he isn’t very good at what he does…which is to try to eat people.
When I was little, Peter Pan was my hero (those kinder photos of me dressed as the boy who never grew up will be released to the world someday), and I never quite got how dark the character was, never mind the more problematic racial aspects of the film.
The Lion King 2 is one of the few Disney sequels I really enjoy, and I this is my favourite song from the film. Voiced by the absolute powerhouse Donna Murphy, this has a sickly sweet tone to it, and boy is it fun to sing to. This film is far, far too underrated in my opinion, and Frollo is without a  doubt the most evil villain Disney has produced. Adams specifically cites Television programs and motion pictures that have popularized the war as a morally just, popularly-supported conflict in which the Allies became the heroes and the Axis Powers, most notably the Nazis and the Japanese, became villains. Adams uses a magazine advertisement to illustrate the romantic view of the war that advertisers and the American government portrayed at home. So for me, the best Minecraft seeds are the ones that put something cool and interesting right in front me when I spawn. If you're looking for a survival seed where you can find a stronghold without having to farm Eyes of Ender and walk (potentially) thousands of blocks to find a stronghold, this is the seed you've been looking for.
This Minecraft seed will spawn you right in front of a huge mushroom biome -- and it's absolutely massive. They're a pain to navigate, you can't see a thing, and you spend your first precious minutes cutting down vines with your fists.
Just look for a sunken spot in the sand right in front of your spawn point and start digging. Before you head down, you'll want to take a little time to gather some wood from the surrounding area. A short distance from your spawn point, you will find a desert temple -- with a large village right behind it.
But if jungles have one redeeming quality, it's their cool (and sometimes elusive) lagoons. Now, I get that it isn't really a 'survival' situation when you land on an island with comfortable accommodations and a little farm just waiting for you to feast on, but it's a good seed for people who want to play survival island style without the initial resource scramble. The village has a lot of farms that you can harvest right away for instant nutrition, and the buildings provide you with a nice place to spend a night (the villagers don't mind.
But while the other one was cool mostly for the rare gems you'll find, this one is cool for other reasons.
However, they can be a little tough to find on your own, so if you just want to take a quick peek to see what they're all about (or if you want to convert one into your own luxurious lair of evil), this is a good seed for you. Because of its convenience, I decided to convert the temple into my home, giving me easy access to just about everything I need. Many of the mountains are hollowed out, giving you easy access to coal, iron, and other materials that you need to get started. The mountains here have a lot of character, and like a lot of people, I'm a huge fan of the large overhangs and floating mountains. This gorgeous Taiga island is really cool, and not just for its snowy exterior: Dig down from just about anywhere on the island, and you'll drop into an abandoned mineshaft.
Raid the farms for some instant nutrition, and use the village as a good starter structure if you want.
Real dancing is the dancing that you half regret the next morning and forms part of those unofficial dance contests which take place in discos, bars and wedding receptions every weekend of the year. Everything from Saturday Night Fever struts to old-time favourites like Watusi and the Mash Potato is explained in scientific detail and with cartoon crash test dummies to show us how. Anybody up for sitting down in an imaginary canoe for that all-time lock-in favourite: Oops! Dancing by numbers, but still better than anything Bruce Forsyth will bring you this Christmas. Not that there’s anything wrong with the hero’s songs, they can be quite catchy, but the villains are just sassier, more badass, more memorable, and sometimes so disturbing you can hardly believe that they’re in a kids movie (although let’s be honest, kids that young aren’t really going to get the undertones). But there is something incredibly insidious about his song, in which he tries to hypnotize an angry Mowgli. What starts out as Lefou trying to cheer up Gaston and boost his ego after Belle’s rejection quickly turns into Gaston singing his own praises.
It’s occurring to me that a lot of our villains songs are sung as a way to trick or mislead our heroes, and Dr.
Take a close look at this song, and you soon realise the true beauty of the evilness of Mother Gothel – she undermines Rapunzel emotionally and psychologically, and that is how she maintains her control. Facilier learnt everything he knows from Ursula.  Again it perfectly suits Ursula’s tentacled self as she gets her grip on Ariel and slowly pulls her in. In this trope, all returning servicemen came back well-adjusted and suffered no mental illness, racial tensions did not exist, and all American soldiers fought with valor and honor. A copy of a magazine ad featured the ball gunner under the headline "Giving 'Em Hell in a Goldfish Bowl." Adams contrasts this with the poem The Death of the Ball Turret Gunner by Randall Jarrell, which depicts the gruesome death of a ball gunner who was literally blown to bits by a shrapnel explosion.
There are a lot of precious minerals down below (and some monsters, too), so you'll need a solid stockpile of sticks for the swords and pickaxes you'll need down below. There are a lot of diamonds in the blacksmith's chest (and even more rare gems in the chests below the desert temple).

You get one tree, a small patch of land, and you're surrounded by ocean for hundreds of blocks. But unlike most survival islands, this one is mountainous with lots of trees, cliffs, and beaches.
If you haven't converted a temple before, it's easy -- just make sure you close off the top, and add lots of torches and doors. This is a cool seed because it spawns you next to something unusual, and it would be great for anyone who is new to Minecraft and needs a nice place to get started. I got them from a wierd website that said they would all have villages at spawn, but they don't. So, in honour of those amazing songs, composers and lyricists, I present my ranking of my favourite Disney villain songs.
Also, Kaa is voiced by the Disney legend Stirling Holloway – voice of the Stalk in Dumbo, the Chesire Cat in Alice in Wonderland, and the beloved Winnie the Pooh (whenever I hear Kaa, all I can see is Pooh bear – imagine if Pooh had sung that while trying to woo honey from the bees). Let’s be honest, what Simba did to the lionesses wasn’t the nicest thing, and Zira has let anger fester and boil until she lets it all out in this absolutely badass song. Snide remarks on her stolen daughter’s appearance and abilities are disguised as a mothers concern. Ursula doesn’t even trick her – she tells her upfront what she wants, and the consequences if Ariel fails. Adams (professor of history at Northern Kentucky University) which is a popular textbook in American history courses at many colleges and universities. Adams contrasts the idea of the "Best War Ever" with the mythology surrounding the Vietnam War and concludes that the juxtaposition of these two military engagements and their striking differences help reinforce the popular notions surrounding World War II. The ravine surrounding the stronghold is very cool as well, with lots of great minerals to harvest. If you love playing survival mode and want a little head start when it comes to acquiring rare materials (emeralds, diamonds, gold, etc), this is one of the best seeds you'll ever find. There is a ton of building potential here (it's absolutely begging for an Ewok-style tree fort), which in my mind gives you the best of both worlds. With this seed, you will spawn on a small survival-style island, with a view of the mushroom kingdom just across the water.
And not on top of the water, either -- by the time the world renders, you'll have a nice little swim towards the surface. Go across sand until you see a dungeon like thing small but go some more and find a bigger one. Listening to Roger pretty much improvise the music whilst Cruella storms into his and Anita’s house, smoking, rhapsodising about fur, underhandedly insulting Anita, and just generally looking like an evil witch, it becomes as if she is performing to her theme. Frollo is the only character on this list who sings this song in solitude, without any audience, except of course, the eye of God who he imagines judging him (remember the part where he sings ‘It’s not my fault, I’m not to blame’ to the red hooded figures?) This isn’t really an enjoyable song in the traditional sense, and it shows just how twisted Frollo is.
May the tradition of the Disney Villain song never die – you better be prepared for some more badass lists in the future (bad pun very much intended.
The book was and first published by the Johns Hopkins University press in 1993 as part of its "American Moment" series, edited by University of Wisconsina€“Madison history professor Stanley I. Excavating the temple and village (without smashing either to bits) was one of the most surprisingly fun things I've done in Minecraft. It's just a short swim from the spawn point, and there's lot to explore here (including a huge underground canyon). At the surface, you can't see anything but water in any direction, making your survival (and the world you end up inhabiting) an absolute crap shoot. It oozes evil from the opening drums, and you’re lying if you tell me you don’t know all the words.
Kutler.[1] In a 2004 survey of American college history instructors, the book was voted #2 in the "most likely to plagiarize" category, finishing just behind Amusing the Million by John Kasson.
He lives by his own set of morals, and scarily believes what he thinks is right, despite the pain he brings to others. And I think my favourite part – Ursula teaches Ariel in the song about the way women act, or rather, the way society expects them to act. This song, about his burning desire for Esmerelda, is just creepy and more than a little rapey.
This is our best war ever and its 10x better than any one you've seen before.THE BEST WAR EVER -- by John Stauber & Sheldon RamptonHow America defeated itself in Iraq -- by believing its own spin.
