You can start with and empty metal or plastic kit or a nice First aid bag or first aid pack, then you may continue adding individual items until you have exactly the items you would like in your custom kit! Bonnie Joy Dewkett is a nationally recognized organizing expert, author, motivational speaker, and internet radio personality. One must carry an id (preferably a photo id; like a passport) with them at all times while travelling to avoid any hassles in a foreign country. Don’t forget to carry a digital camera with loads of memory to capture all the beautiful memories of your journey.
It’s not something very desirable to carry on a holiday, but it’s useful in case of emergencies; especially the phones with an inbuilt GPS System which is very useful to find your way around.
I’m going to coat-tail on what “Very Evolved” said… The way you connect to your audience is… Know who you are writing to.

Prescription Meds- If you or any of the people traveling in your party take daily prescription medications be sure to bring plenty to cover your entire trip plus a few days just in case.
Motion Sickness- Some people may be more sensitive to motion sickness than others, and even if you are an experienced boater it may be a good idea to bring a bottle of Dramamine just in case.
Anti Nausea and Anti-diarrhea -Visiting foreign countries, eating different foods and drinking different beverages may not sit well with your stomach so it is smart to have some meds that will help.
Remember to bring your travel first aid kit with you especially if you plan adventurous excursions.. Here is a first aid kit contents list that you use to make sure you've got all the necessary supplies at home for when you need them. You'll find the printable version below, as you scroll down, but you can read what supplies you'll need to keep for your home kit right here.
The list is meant to be a guide for you, a checklist of sorts, to help you remember what you may need and to make sure it is on hand at all times. I suggest printing out a copy of the list for yourself and placing it in your first aid kit that you create, or purchase, so you can make sure you keep all the necessary supplies in stock as they're used, or as they expire and need to be replaced with fresher versions. It is best to re-check your supplies at least every six months, to make sure you have a chance to replace older supplies before the emergency itself occurs.
The first aid kit you keep handy in your home is meant to deal with minor first aid issues, and should be separate from the kit you keep with your emergency supplies. That's because you should have some easily accessible first aid supplies in your home, that aren't necessarily mixed in with your disaster supplies. You do need a first aid kit within your emergency preparedness kit though, and the list below can give you good guidance for what should be included in these emergency supplies as well.
It is imperative that you keep emergency contact and other vital medical information within your first aid kit so that if first responders need to come, or people unfamiliar with your household need to use the kit (such as a babysitter) they can know vital information. Therefore, on the printable first aid kit contents list I've also added a spot for you to fill in your personal doctor and dentist's phone numbers, so that someone can call them easily in an emergency if needed, along with some other helpful emergency contact information. Some people want to make a homemade first aid kit, and many times this is a better idea because you can critically think of the items I've listed here as part of the first aid kit contents list and add anything that is unique to your family's needs. However, making a homemade version is not for everyone, including those without much time or who don't want to buy such large quantities of each item that they hopefully may not even need. Make sure to get a kit that is for home use, not an OSHA kit which is meant to deal with workplace first aid. Share Your Comments, Tips & IdeasI would love to hear from you, sharing your thoughts, questions, or ideas about this topic, so leave me a comment below. If you are not certain what to include in your emergency or disaster first-aid kit, buying a premade kit is probably the best option.
A premade kit is a good start for emergency preparedness, but if you purchase a store-bought first-aid you may need to add supplies to it to be fully prepared.

Consider your geography: A basic first-aid kit may not include supplies that are of necessary for your location.
It's one thing to own an emergency first aid kit; it's another thing to know how to use the first aid kit's supplies. Check with your local YMCA, YWCA, or American Red Cross chapter for available first aid training classes. Google "first aid training" and the name of your city or community to find training near you.
In an emergency, training could mean the difference between life and death – for your coworkers, your family members, or even you.
Kiara ChandDecember 23, 2012 at 10:36 PMFirst aid kit is must this should not be on the least. First aid is the help that you give someone quickly after they have hurt themselves or have had an accident .
Do not move a person who may have a broken bone , internal injuries or an injured spine unless you really have to. If the victim is unconscious turn the head to one side to keep the person from choking .
A victim who suffers from shock may look afraid, confused , weak and be extremely thirsty . A person who has swallowed something poisonous may die within minutes if they are not treated .
If a person has inhaled a poison like carbon monoxide or chlorine gas move him or her to fresh air at once. Poisons can also be absorbed through the skin if you get in contact with poisonous plants or chemical substances . When you treat burns never open blisters and do not put oil or other greasy substances on the burn. It is a good idea to have a kit with first aid supplies at home or in your car when you travel.
All your regular medicines, also medicines to ward off stomach upsets, allergies, or any other sickness.
Cut and apply a section to your foot as soon as you discover a “hot spot.” Duct tape also works for this purpose. Bottled PVD iodine 10 percent solution should be diluted to a ratio of 1 percent or less for flushing wounds. Also be sure to keep them inside the bottles with your name on it just in case you may need to prove it is yours.
You never know what the weather may be and you don’t want to ruin your trip because of motion sickness. I have sailed with people who after about an hour on the ship they claim they are getting sea sick.. I pack anti diarrhea pills, anti nausea, and Pepto Bismal to help relieve my stomach if needed. To get the full scoop on organizing medicines in your home check out the First Aid & Medicine Organizer Center Challenge, which is part of the 52 Weeks to an Organized Home Challenge.
Each family's needs are unique, so you may need to add or subtract items as circumstances change in your home, including as your children age (or new children are born). Here are some good ones to choose from, but remember that their contents may vary and may not have everything listed in the checklist above (or perhaps they have things I haven't listed above). My integrity and your satisfaction are very important to me so I only recommend products I would purchase myself, and that I believe would benefit you. This way you can be certain that you at least have the basic supplies you need for the most common emergencies. Also, whether premade or assembled at home, remember to replace any supplies as soon as they are used. For example, if you or your family members are avid hikers, your basic first-aid kit should include a snake bite kit or poison oak first-aid supplies.
For example, extreme heat or cold, high altitude environments or an area known for a particular species of animals or insects known for venomous bites or stings.
Some disaster first aid kit's supplies may not need instruction for use, such as Band-Aids. Many companies offer free first-aid training classes as part of their disaster preparedness. If you don't know the phone number of the local doctor or hospital dial an emergency number: 144 for an ambulance , 133 for the fire department and 122 for the police.
An ambulance needs to know where the injured person is located and what exactly has happened. You must begin helping a person at once, especially if the victim is bleeding strongly, has been poisoned or if breathing has stopped. If the leg or arm is hurt you can try to stop bleeding by putting pressure on the artery that carries blood to the injured body part.

In such a case either call a doctor , an ambulance or take the person to the nearest hospital . In such a case remove all the clothes that someone is wearing and flush the skin with water for about 10 minutes. Two or three minutes without breathing can cause brain damage and six minutes can be fatal . It should include bandages , tissue , something to write on, a flashlight , scissors , safety pins , a spray or a lotion that kills germs . You wouldn’t write to an audience of 14yr olds the same way you would write to an audience of 60yr olds. I bring a similar kit with us on every trip including when we leave the ship as you never know what can happen.
If traveling with children bring children’s liquid pain relievers and fever reducers. Its a good idea to have plenty of bandages for everyone in your family in a variety of sizes.
If you take insulin or other medications requiring a syringe ask your cabin steward for a sharps disposal container or bio bag and they should be able to provide one for you. There are many herbal remedies, patches and wristbands that people use for motion sickness but I can only speak to Dramamine which my family and I always use. You will see posts from members of the FamilyWize team, our customers and partners and also from our external panel of FamilyWize experts and writers. Do you know what's in your first aid kits and supplies?  Do you know how to use the supplies that are in your first aid kit?
Also, restock items like batteries, from time to time, to make sure that they will work in case of an emergency. A person with even a small help is better than the one standing helplessly in emergency conditions. In some cases, you will be given instructions on what to do until a doctor or ambulance arrives.
When a person is in shock blood does not carry enough oxygen and food to the brain and other organs. Then put a sterile handkerchief , cloth or towel on the wound and press it down with your hand. Call a doctor or a poison control centre immediately and follow the instructions that you are given carefully. Second degree burns damage deeper skin layers and third degree burns destroy tissue of deeper layers of skin.
If you are planning to do some serious adventures I would highly recommend you buying Quikclot If you happen to have a serious laceration, especially a head laceration you can bleed heavily. Dramamine is a popular medication used to prevent motion sickness, it comes in a regular and non drowsy formula. It is a mental thing for most people but if you do get out to sea and hit some rough water you will definitely feel the difference. It can also help if you contract a stomach virus onboard, although it is rare it does happen. Quikclot can stop the bleeding fast and help you get to the hospital without using too much blood. As soon as you start feeling legitimately sea sick don’t try to fight it, take the recommended dosage as soon as you can.
What about the right way to treat a first-degree burn versus a second-degree or third-degree burn? Warm the affected area with the heat of your hand or cover it with clothes until you can get the victim indoors. If you happen to hit rough water and run out of Dramamine the ship may  have a few bottles for sale but not only will they be very expensive, but they will quickly be purchased by folks who forgot to bring any at all.
You may happen to face it at home, road or your workplace and you should always be prepared for it.
Apart from maintaining a first aid kit, there are certain things you should know about workplace accidents, especially. Whenever you face a workplace accident, you should get it registered in the accident record book.
Also, if it cannot be handled through simple first aid, immediately go for professional medical help and keep safe all the medical documents with you.
As a certified first responder I see non adhesive dressings as maybe the most versatile tool in a first aid kit.
Not only can they cover wounds but they can be used to apply antibiotic ointments, clean wounds, and serve as the base of a bandage.
