There are many reason to consider taking private lessons when learning to play an instrument or learning to sing. Private lessons at the Academy range from 30-minutes to an hour and are 100% focused on the student.
Students are provided with the contact information of their instructor(s) so that they can reach out and ask questions, share successes or acquire information when they need it. It is very important to us at The Maryland Music Academy to allow our students to progress at a pace that is comfortable for them. The success rate of students who take private music lessons, compared to those who learn on their own or in a group setting, is astounding. Masterclass with Rosa Lamoureux Masterclass with Rosa Lamoureux Yesterday I attended a masterclass given by popular DC-area soloist Rosa Lamoureux. In addition to our private lessons, The Maryland Music Academy also offers group music lessons. We also take great pride in the fact that all of our teachers are university-educated professionals.
We have found that because all of our teachers are down-to-earth and have a love of music and a desire to share that with their students, that group lessons can be just as successful as private lessons at the Maryland Music Academy. In researching music lessons you may have read or heard that private music lessons provide a better learning environment for students then group lessons.

There is something to be said for the sense of belonging that a student gets when participating in a group lesson. When students study together in a group setting it is not unheard of for them get together and practice or work on challenging tasks outside their normal lesson time or practice time. PLEASE NOTE:  We are in no way saying one type of lesson (private or group) is better then the other. Whether you are interested in learning to sing, learning to play the piano or mastering the guitar, our staff of highly trained instructors are here to help you along the way. Our teachers will work with you at your pace to guide you along your personal music journey.
Listed below are a few that we at The Maryland Music Academy, find to be the most important, and what really sets us apart from other music schools. Our instructors work one-on-one with each student providing them with the personalized attention they need to succeed. Our instructors respond promptly to phone messages and emails allowing students to make the progress needed in between lessons. While we do push our students to do their best, and practice everyday, we make sure that they are grasping each concept as we go and we never move forward when a student is left behind or struggling with a concept.
The band known as Travelin' Light consists of our students and other students from other private teachers in Montgomery County. We offer lessons in voice, acoustic and classical guitar, piano, competition and performance preparation, music theory, harmony and chamber music. Zielinski has studied voice with internationally acclaimed tenor Anastasios Vrenios and has pursued musical studies at Rhodes College (as a high school student), Trinity University, the Oxenfoord International School in Scotland, and l'Academie Internationale de Musique de Paris.
Zielinski received a Graduate Performance Diploma and a Masters of Music Degree under the mentorship of world renowned Manuel Barrueco at Peabody Conservatory, where he also studied with Ray Chester. Because of her advice and guidance, everyone has noticed a great improvement in my singing.
I have studied with some very good instructors in college and in conservatories, but Piotr is exceptional. Having a degree (or in some cases, two or three!) in your field, by definition, shows commitment, experience, and knowledge.

While this may be the case for some students, we do feel that group lessons are just as valuable. This can help to increase the success rate for students who learn well in a group environment. It is really an individual preference and your choice should be based upon how you, or your student, learns best. Don’t let the word “Academy” or our school crest intimidate you, we do take music education seriously around here, but all of our teachers like to keep things fun and engaging as well. If they have a question, or are struggling with a concept related to their instrument they can feel comfortable asking the instructor and knowing they are going to get an answer and get through whatever they are struggling with.
In 2001, he was the recipient of the Sydney-Friedberg Prize for outstanding musical contribution to Peabody. And since I feel more confident while singing, my performance on stage has gone up to the next level. We make every effort to limit the size of our group lessons to no more then six students so that each student gets the attention they need to succeed. The student can also build life long relationships with other students and develop social skills that will help then in other areas of life.
Our instructors are all qualified to guide you from Twinkle Twinkle Little Star for as far as you want to go with your musical career, including getting into a music school! As soon as I saw his education, performance history, and heard samples of his virtuosic playing I knew right away that I needed to train with Piotr. Our location is easily accessible from the metro. We can be your guide in the exciting journey of learning to play an instrument or developing your voice. We are thinking of doing voice, guitar, and piano in one exciting event!Apr 09   Full PostThose crazy sisters of Suor Angelica!
