There are so many notes to learn it can seem almost impossible to completely understand it all. We are going to take an in depth look at the piano keyboard and find an easy way to make sense of it all.I have included an easy to use piano key chart that will help you practice and master the notes on the piano. When you are first learning piano notes you can use this piano note diagram to help you easily find any note on the piano. Dissecting The PianoThe keys on the piano are organized in a pattern that repeats itself throughout the piano keyboard. The first thing that you notice is the white and black keys. Notes on the PianoNow that you can easily find C, you can now name any white note on the piano.Using the piano keyboard diagram you can now label the rest of the white notes by counting up the alphabet. Piano keyboard diagrams to print out - download these FREE piano key notes charts, blank, or  with piano letters note names for your beginner music students! My newest printable piano keyboard shows the piano keys with the note names on them, white keys and black keys too! For the first few months of their lessons, they must fill in the piano keyboard paper one key-name per week. Keyboard recognition is important for all musiciansIt's obvious why piano players need to start learning the names of the keys, but why guitarists? They, too, need to understand the topography of the piano keyboard, on which there seem to be black notes "missing" between B and C, and E and F. Download printable piano keyboard with 3 octaves When I give blank piano keys sheets to guitar beginners, the first thing we do is learn where the guitar strings are located on the piano. Venugopal, India:A few months ago I wrote to you about my problem to play with both hands on the piano. Dannielle, Australia:I was wondering if it was at all possible to gain permission from you to use some of the pieces of music on this website for my students performing at an Eisteddod in Australia?
When working out the keys & their signatures It really helps to have a (piano) keyboard in front of you, or at the very least a picture of one.
Keep your hand in the same position on the keyboard.  To get the key signature for the new key, find the note between the upper two of the three fingers that are playing (this is the 4th of the original key and the 7th of the new key) sharpen* it and add this onto the previous key?s signature. The easiest way is to work out each key as the relative minor of one of the Major Keys with Sharps. Take each Major Key with Sharps and lower the key by three semi-tones, this gives the 1st of the minor key. An harmonic minor is the same as a natural minor with the addition of a sharpened 7th so raise the seventh note by one semi-tone.  If the seventh is already a sharp then raise it again anyway. A melodic minor is the same as a natural minor with the addition of a sharpened 6th & 7th but only when go up the scale, they are unchanged when coming down.

The easiest way is to work out each key as the relative minor of one of the Major Keys with Flats. Take each Major Key with Flats and lower the key by three semi-tones, this gives the 1st of the minor key. We have many different activities in this house, Glebe Terrace.  Our life and interests are broad with small bits of knowledge to share.
Asking the same to Anglo-Saxon organists can result in hearing five (or even more) different answers. The fact that Anglo-Saxon answers deviate from an European answer is due to the fact that the European system is exact. This is comparable to sheet music or score: On paper is not the pitch, but the key to play. Because of all the differences globally below we present a comparative matrix of known systems. Dean Eckmann, former employee at Fisk Organ Building told me that Fisk uses the system shown in in the last column. For pitch notation used throughout this study, we defer to Percy Scholes' Oxford Companion to Music [92].
We will therefore use the convention that the bottom key of a modern 61 key organ manual of normal 8' pitch is referred to as CC, middle c is c and the top key is c3 or c'''.
Tony Newnham also pointed out to me that some English Organ builders have a system not shown in the matrix. Thanks to Dean Eckmann, Tony Newnham, Robert Allan and Brian Styles for their contributions to this page. From the book 'Faszination Klavier' 300 Jahre Pianofortebau in Deutschland' I took a diagram showing the development of the keyboard size in time.
Below is the diagram showing pipelenghts.A  Some of the lengths shown have never been built, and are theoretical lengths.
I have not yet replaced a string, but from what I have read you need to measure the diameter of the string and buy some replacement string which comes on a spool (for the upper notes).
There is an easy to follow pattern throughout the entire piano that makes it easy to learn every note fast. They feel as though they need to rely on the piano keyboard diagram rather then only using it when its necessary.
Writing things down is a form of learning that helps reinforce a concept. You can use the piano keyboard diagram to help reinforce and review the notes on the piano keyboard by writing the notes on a blank diagram. This exercise is great for kids!
This means that the white note next to C is D, the note next to D is E, and so on.Continue up the alphabet until you reach G. The black keys use a lot of ink, and so these paper keyboards are precious commodities once they are printed out! Also, IF YOU ARE ASKING FOR MUSIC THAT IS NOT IN THE PUBLIC DOMAIN, YOUR REQUEST WILL BE IGNORED.
I have found this website most helpful to my teaching and the students seem to enjoy this music.

Thank you so much for your hard work getting these on the web, you have made many children very happy!! Historic organs are fitted with keyboards of 4 octaves, modern organs have keyboards of 4,5 octaves. It could be argued that some departments (in particular the pedals) are not based on 8' but on 16' pitch and so on, but we shall also refer to the bottom pedal as CC as it typically pulls down the lowest CC manual key when couplers are in use. Once at G you start back over at A.See the pattern? As soon as you reach A, you have now started the pattern that will continue throughout the entire piano keyboard.
First one hand, then the other, strikes each D on the piano, from left to right, then back down again right to left (or the other way around -- some free spirit always wants to do it backwards, and it really doesn't matter!). Would you mind if they played some of these pieces in a public setting?Dana:Hi, Dannielle, Absolutely you may use my pieces in public!
On some of my free sheets, I have written "For Use by Private Music Teachers" down by the Copyright notice, but I really intend them to be for the use of all teachers and students alike.
Regarding body armor, the only situation I’ve heard where there is some risk is working on the old square pianos from the 1800s. I broke two strings but both broke at the peg and I was able to secure enough from the other peg to still make them work.
Make a technical exercise out of it, for funThis reinforces not just the piano key's location and name, but also a flexible wrist motion. If a student rips the holes so the keyboard sheet doesn't stay in their 3-ring binder, then I mend the edge with wide tape folded over, and punch new holes!Music education? You will need to buy a few tools, but the total cost of the tools should be less than what a piano tuner would charge (assuming you have your own laptop).  Once you have the tools and the knowledge, you will be saving every time the piano needs to be tuned. It was her grandmothers before her and would be at least 100 years old, however nobody in the family plays it. Just tuning to an electronic tuner that does not account for inharmonicity will give the piano a poorer sound to the discerning ear.
It will focus only on those notes rather than on the entire piano keyboard.Focus on learning one octave.
It is basically an ornamental piece of furniture so it doesn’t matter too much if a string breaks during my attempt to tune. The result: A stopped pipe only needs half the length of an open pipe to sound the same pitch.
Having said that, if a string does break, could it be potentially dangerous given the tension or will it simply just unwind.
