This traditional Peruvian drum has been making an appearance in a lot of contemporary acoustic music lately. The cajon is the most widely used Afro-Peruvian instrument since the late 1700s and is believed to have came from slave musicians in the Spanish Colonial Americas. Some say that “slaves simply used boxes as musical instruments to combat contemporary Spanish colonial bans on music in predominantly African areas. The cajon is a wooden box with a single soundhole on one side (opposite the head or tapa), similar to that of an acoustic guitar. The cajon produces two main sounds, a bass tone and a sharp, which is played with the finger tips.
Dolphin’s collection of cajones includes some mainstreaming drums and a couple of cajon bongos which are not seen out and about so often. Don’t think the cajon is the one for you, then why not check the djembe here and see if that beats your drum!

There are many ways your Mac can help you be more creative, but one of the lesser-known ones is teaching yourself a new instrument with GarageBand’s Learn to Play feature. What’s more, you can even record the songs you play along with and get feedback on what you’ve played.
From the New Project window, select Learn to Play in the main sidebar to view any currently downloaded guitar or piano lessons from the selection available.
From the list of downloaded lessons, select the one you want to work on (by default your only option is Intro to Guitar), and click Choose to begin. In Learn mode, clicking on the note icon in the top- right corner brings up a list of different view options to show chords, standard notation and tabs as notes. Hitting the Mixer button brings up an audio mixer that lets you control your instrument’s volume, the tutor’s instrument and the backing band while you play. Our provides the latest breaking apple news, reviews, tutorials and downloads online and our fan page is the best place to communicate with other iCreate fans. The player sits astride the box, tilting it at an angle while striking the head between his knees. The sides of the box are usually constructed from half to three quarter inch (1.3 to 2 cm) thick wood with a thin sheet of plywood is nailed on as the sixth side and acts as the striking surface or head.

Some have begun inserting various materials into the drums cabinet in order to achieve a wider range of sounds. Learn to Play is your Mac’s built-in guitar or piano tutor, complete with video tutorials, interactive diagrams and songs to play along with to help you master your instrument. You can download further lessons for each instrument, as well as artist lessons to learn both simple and complex versions of songs that they made popular. Getting set up is easy and all you need is your Mac, GarageBand, an instrument to learn with and our great guide. For example, some drummers include rattles, snares and even guitar strings into their instruments, producing a buzz like effect or tone which adds a nice texture to a stripped acoustic set.
The top corners of the cajon are left unfastened, so the sharp tone can snap against the drums casing. Other playing techniques include the use of plastic or metal brushes to strike the drum, just like a snare drum.
