Exercises are broken into six sections that cover an increasing range of notes as the student progresses.
Prior to diving into exercises, Notebusters contains the most common note reading methods to aid beginners in their quest to master music. NOTEBUSTERS is a music workbook designed to increase sight-reading skills through 240 one-minute exercises.
I already know how to read music, but I am not good at sight-reading-it can take me quite a while to figure out a piece of music! Lots of teaching materials have been developed since I started teaching 10 years ago, and I feel like I have a pretty good line-up of lesson books and theory books to help students learn when they come each week. The number refers to a particular octave and has nothing to do with chords or chord qualities. I misunderstood the C4 as I have been reading jazz charts lately and forgot about the 261Hz of middle C. I often get asked what the point of the Bass Clef is because its existence just seems to make life harder for no good reason!!

Well, the reason we have the Bass Clef is simple – to make music easier to read by avoiding the use of too many ledger lines.
However, Middle C in the Bass Clef goes on a ledger line above the stave so there are loads of notes we can write below Middle C without having to use any ledger lines. If you can learn how to read Treble and Bass Clef then you will make a huge leap forward as a musician. The one-minute drills are great for my daughter and the layout is simple and just the right amount of challenging that she enjoys completing them. One concept that is necessary when playing the piano but can be difficult to teach is that of sight-reading — NOTEBUSTERS has been a great resource for my students! He loved the bright colors and the fact that the exercises were timed (probably that they were only 1 minute as well) and is working through it pretty quickly.
If we were to use a Treble Clef (remember, Middle C in the Treble Clef goes on a ledger line below the stave as shown below) then we would have to use loads of ledger lines – this would make the music really difficult to read. His mom told me his guitar teacher loved the workbook and is now making it a requirement for all his beginning students.
