If you have multiple screens or a larger screen resolution it can be nice to play Starcraft 2 in windowed mode. There is probably a keyboard shortcut for Windows too, but I spend most of my time playing in Mac OS X. Razer has confirmed that their re-released range of StarCraft II branded gaming peripherals will be available at SA retailers and online stores, with some suppliers already carrying stock.
The Razer Spectre, Razer Marauder and Razer Banshee all feature custom-backlighting to match any gaming rig and are able to electrify StarCraft II: Heart of the Swarm gameplay through an APM (Actions-Per-Minute) Lighting System. A lightweight, five-button mouse, the Razer Spectre features the newly developed APM Lighting System with a multicolour LED that provides real-time performance feedback through changing lighting hues and adjustable mouse button force settings. The Razer Marauder keyboard features a compact design and multi-colour backlighting with the APM Lighting System. Designed with a focus on comfort and sound isolation, the Razer Banshee StarCraft II Gaming Headset also features the APM Lighting System. The Razer Banshee has a configuration utility for adjustments of equalizer, pitch and volume, and features a detachable microphone boom for transport.
In case you didn’t know, windowed mode basically means the game is contained within a standard application window rather than running in full screen.

The APM Lighting System offers a fully integrated gaming experience that responds directly to a player’s manoeuvres and speed, providing vibrant performance feedback that gamers can see. For SRK’s cross-over contest, a guy named Mauricio Romana decided to come up with an arcade stick that can be used to play Starcraft 2. Each peripheral also features a gaming-optimized design with an emphasis on portability for tournament play and is stylized with design elements from the StarCraft universe.
Firstly it looks pretty cool but you’re likely only going to want to buy the Razer Marauder if you only play the Wings of Liberty Starcraft game, it will not be really ideal for anything else. When playing SC2 the APM lighting system uses data collected from the game in play to change the lighting colors according to the speed and skill of the player and also reacts to any message alerts that may happen during play. APM stands for actions per minute, this is a measure of player performance based on mouse and key operations on the keyboard occuring every minute, this also indicates a players level of command over the game. For a better idea of what the scores mean, a player new to the game may expect a score of 40-60, experienced playes should achieve scores over 150, and pro gamers could hit 300 plus. The whole idea of this keyboard seems to be based around increasing the skill and performance of a player by keeping tabs on there game play, and I have to agree, if you have some stats to go by you will always be pushing yourself to improve on them. The Razer Marauder appears tiny in comparison to other models it measures jus 400 mm x 182 mm, due in no small measure to the design and key spacing, it’s fine if you are short on desk space, but if you have big hands and fingers like sausages then this unit is probably not for you.

If you like playing many different types of character then the Razer Marauder will allow to quickly switch between as many as ten profiles without going into to any software menus, for this purpose this feature is a big time-saver. Although using a standard key layout the arrow keys are combined into the number pad and they can be toggled on and off. As Starcraft ll seems to be a popular game Razer took the bold step of producing a mouse (called the Spectre) and a headset (The Banshee) to make a full matching set of hardware for proponents of this game. So overall then, if your are a big Starcraft fan, and if you want to know how well you are progressing at SC2 and are either an accurate typist or have got small hands then the Razer Marauder may be for you, otherwise you will probably want to give it a miss.
If you want a standard size keyboard with some fancy lighting have a look at the Razer Tron.
