Founded in 1842, the New York Philharmonic is the United State’s oldest symphonic institution. In 1909, the New York Philharmonic came under new management by a group called the “Guarantors Committee,” who reorganized the orchestra from a cooperative to a corporate enterprise. In the roughly 48 concerts that Mahler performed with the New York Philharmonic, he relied on his own stature as a musician to take certain liberties with the works of great composers.

Marius Tesch earned a Bachelor of Music Degree at the University of Central Florida, where he studied under the tutelage of Mr. Tesch is an active member of the American Musicological Society, and writes on a variety of topics in music history. Fed up with the tardiness of concert-goers more interested in socializing in the foyer than the music itself, he refused to begin any concert even a minute behind schedule.
In 2009, he spent a summer semester studying and performing music at festivals in Paris and Les Arcs, France. Marius has won several performance awards, including the first prize in the UCF Performance Excellence competition. Tesch moved to Berlin, Germany, where he entered the graduate program in Musicology at the Freie Universitat Berlin. Specializing in the history of music, he earned a Master of Arts degree with his thesis Weills Weg zur Symphonie. His instructors included world renowned experts such as Albrecht Riethmuller and Bodo Bischoff.
