The characteristics of CASIO’s newly developed Multi-dimensional Morphing AiR* Sound Source reflect thorough attention to detail in expressing the rich, resonating tones inherent to the piano. The difference between the sound structures of a grand piano and a digital piano appears as a difference in timing, from the moment the instrument is played until the sound is audible.
The Simulated ebony and ivory keys offers the luxurious feel and texture as well as the smooth touch of a grand piano keyboard.
The deep, beautiful resonance resulting from the use of a damper pedal is also reproduced naturally by a stereo resonance simulator installed on all 88 keys, an approach that differs from conventional simulated reproduction employing effect processing. The Yamaha P-105 has an 88-note, Graded Hammer Standard weighted action keyboard that feels heavier in the low end and lighter in the top, just like the keys of an acoustic piano. Sampled from Yamaha's own acclaimed CFIII concert grand, no digital piano at this price point delivers recordings from such a high-end instrument. Voice and split mode with a drum pattern, 128-note polyphony ensures every note gets heard. The Suzuki S-350 Mini Grand is a perfectly proportioned digital piano, with a load of professional features. With the Allegro you also get Layer and Split modes, Reverb and Chorus effects, aMetronome feature, and 2-track recording with song recording and playback. The Williams Overture is a console style 88-Key digital piano with a sliding key-cover and full vanity panel. The MIDI signal would eventually travel through a USB cable between the interface and computer if using the red line approach.
It's just that 2 out of 3 of the setups in wiring diagram #2 have the dp directly connected to the pc. Originally Posted By: Mark MarzialeI have a Yamaha PF500 DP with both straight MIDI outputs and USB MIDI out.

It depends. If you get low latency with the PC's internal sound card, you won't need an external. The capacity of the installed memory has been expanded to achieve a longer sampling duration and enhanced waveform data quality. The new Tri-sensor Scaled Hammer Action Keyboard II responds by incorporating a system with three sensors that detect touches of the keys sequentially. The minutely detailed crimp surface finish inhibits finger slippage due to sweat and gives the sensation of a perfect fingertip fit, even when playing for extended periods.
The attention to detail goes so far as to simulate the resonance created by the lifting of the dampers themselves when the pedal is pressed. Pianists can play along with the recordings and enjoy the feeling of participating in a magnificent performance. With the PRIVIA top model you will see the achievements of AiR technology, showing how these compact design instruments can also develop their full sound potential.
Also new, the USB to Host port and line-level AUX outputs allow a variety of connectivity options with everything from an amplifier to an iPad. Pianist styles - This built-in duet partner plays along with you in one of ten different playing styles. Basic drum patterns put the "fun" back into practicing and is a practical alternative to a metronome. Data travels in both directions through the cable. The amp does not have use for MIDI information. The only way I could imagine the software piano would get the MIDI output of the DP is if the PreSonus knew enough to send the signal back to the pc through the single USB connection.
In fact, even after all the suggestions and 30 years in IT, I was unable to get the 22VSL to output sound to my amp & external speakers from my DP.

The temporal changes in tone that create sound you would expect only from a piano, beginning with the initial sound and leading into a beautiful extension until the sound eventually vanishes, are reproduced naturally.
All the new elements in the new sound tones of the PX-860 are completely convincing when the lid of the PRIVIA is opened up.
So a music program (piano library operating inside a VST or similar) can read MIDI data coming in from the piano, and it will play the piano library sounds accordingly.Originally Posted By: Mark MarzialeDoes the latter hookup work for software pianos? So doesn't that mean the MIDI signal, in this hookup, would need to be transmitted to the pc via the USB connection, in order for the piano software to get the MIDI signal?Maybe I didn't make it clear I'm staring at the RED MIDI connection between the DP and Presonus, plus the BLACK USB connection between the pc and Presonus. That is directed to the computer where it is translated into a better piano sound and then the audio is passed back to the interface then onto the amp and speakers. Just wanted to make sure the presonus was going to relay the midi signal from the dp to the pc through the single usb connection. I was able to get the DP & Galaxy Vintage D working fine routing headphone out to my amp (no 22VSL needed) but that seemed kind of low class. You will to appreciate the smallest subtleties of the sound, as it turns the sitting room into a concert hall. This enables players to employ pedal operation to achieve gracefully expressive performances. Using the new „Concert-Play“ function the piano part with keyboard accompaniment can be played (and practised). The only way I could imagine the software piano would get the MIDI output of the DP is if the PreSonus knew enough to send the signal back to the pc through the single USB connection.
