I look back with fond memories to a time when there were no web search engines and I kept a notebook of interesting websites to visit.
That was in the early 1990s and I would never have imagined what the internet was going to turn into and through it, I would be teaching, live piano lessons to students from different cultures… piano lessons Riyadh! My love for music began when I started playing the piano at the age of six, quickly working through the ABRSM Exam Grades while at school.
I have always been oversubscribed for piano lessons, with every spare moment at school filled with budding and enthusiastic students. I spoke with one of my best students about trying out a lesson at the weekend through Skype. That was two years ago and since then, teaching through Skype has only made me more and more confident in the technique. A lot of my students just want to play purely for fun, but the majority work towards ABRSM exams the world renowned music exam board which runs exams in over 90 countries. There tends to be less distraction than face-to-face teaching, with less social banter during lesson time. I’m very much looking forward to staging my first student concert which will involve my remote students playing live, alongside the local students who will be playing in the auditorium. If anyone would like to try an online piano lesson with me, I offer a free trial lesson, which is usually the way in for most of my students and involves a chat about what playing ability hey might already have (if any) and what they would like to learn to play. The Teachers at Just Music Lessons are all Experienced, Qualified & Want Only the Best for You! Getting your piano tuned can cost a bit, but it is well worth while, and unless your piano is really old, or located in a hot or humid area, it should stay in tune for 5 years or so. To position your hands, place both your thumbs on middle C and each finger on both hands on one key each spanning outwards. When you look at the piano you will notice that the same patterns of notes keep repeating themselves. Because middle C marks the centre of high and low pitches on the keyboard, it is also the centre not between the bass scales.
Most woodwind instruments use the treble clef, as well as high brass, violins, and tuned percussion.
In this first lesson, we are going to play a few short pieces, just using the right hand, which uses the notes of the middle C octave. When I was learning the piano, I found co-ordinating my fingers one of the most difficult things to do. So, to help you out I have written a number underneath each note in all the pieces in these lessons. This technique that really does enable you to learn pieces much faster: it’s one I still use all the time! If you know the traditional melody My Bonny Lies Over the Ocean, then you will find your knowledge a great advantage when you first play this tune! Bass Clef: This is the lowest clef, also known as the F clef because the inner curl and dots are around the line representing F. Crotchets: A crotchet is a note that is played for one quarter of the duration of a whole note.
Stave: In musical notation, the staff or stave is a set of five horizontal lines on which note symbols are placed to indicate pitch and rhythm. Treble Clef: This is the highest clef, also known as the G clef because the inner curl of the clef sign is wrapped around the line representing G. Learn to play the piano online. With the Internet, it is possible to learn to play the piano online these days and learn faster compared to the traditional method. In case you are planning to learn to play the piano on the Internet at your personal timetable, you can find an online training that permits you to watch videos for every lesson.
You may also learn to play the piano online by means of software, which are applications that enable you to learn to identify notes the right way. Learning online also enables you to gain control on your time to learn as well as practice. Even though a lot of online piano instructors will coach you on how to play piano by ear, it is also vital that you learn how to read music because this enables you to play a wide selection of music even though they are not familiar to you. Needless to say, learning on the Internet can be much less expensive than getting a piano tutor whom you must pay hourly. However, learning online continues to be a perfect alternative to learn piano in the traditional way especially when you don’t enjoy the luxury of time to visit a piano class on a regular basis. Piano lessons for beginners are available to help anyone learn this popular keyboard style instrument. There are a number of basic concepts that should be included in piano lessons for beginners. Even if you plan on taking piano lessons for beginners it can help to do some research and familiarize your-self with the basics first. If you are looking for more information about piano lessons for beginners we can recommend Piano For All.
I was hooked and knowing that this is where my life should be, went on to study piano with world renowned teachers at the London College Of Music (UK).
I lived 2 hour’s drive away from the school so taking on more students at weekends was impossible.
They were thrilled at the opportunity and to be pioneering this 21st century teaching technique.

It was so successful that I opted to resign from the school and to teach full time from my home in the middle of the countryside. Social chit chat is usually saved for the end, outside of lesson time, when I sometimes meet parents also, to talk about how the lesson has gone. I still teach face-to-face lessons to some of my local students through home visits, usually as one or two lessons in a batch of four (the others being online lessons). Students taking piano lessons Riyadh are especially keen to learn and providing lessons online solves a lot of potential problems they might otherwise have in attending face-to-face lessons.
When its the remote students’ turns to play, we will connect as usual though Skype and their performances with be projected onto a screen on stage.
Here they will be able to meet, chat, post pictures etc, and share in a community otherwise only available to face-to-face students.
When you want to learn piano, one of the most motivating things you can do is invest in a keyboard or an actual piano. For example, if you have a favorite piece of music that you really want to learn, attempting to do so all at once might be overwhelming for a beginner. In addition to scales and exercises, always be sure to include an easy and enjoyable piece of music in your practice. The more out of tune a piano is, the worse it will sound, which can be rather discouraging! To keep your piano in tune longer, it’s a good idea to play it as often as you can (pianos work better the more they are played) and position it against an internal wall, rather than one of the exterior walls of the house.
You can easily remember where middle C is, because it is right in the middle of your piano, just above the brand name written on the front panel. The notes above middle C are notated on the treble clef, while the notes below middle C are shown on the bass clef.
On the piano, the right hand usually is written in treble clef, while the left hand is written in bass clef.
The stem can either point up or down, depending on whether the note is below or above the middle stave line. However, don’t worry too much though, as I will be revisiting all of these terms and concepts in later lessons. It may sound laughable (and you may not struggle with it the way I did!), but as the pieces in these lesson gradually contain more and more notes, it does become an issue. In the graphic below, you can see how each finger on both of your hands has been given a number. Because I’m already familiar with the rhythm by the time I start to play the piece, this lets me just focus on playing the notes correctly. Just as clapping a rhythm before you play a piece helps you learn to play faster, so you will find already knowing a song really well means that you can launch into it with much greater gusto!
Being familiar with a tune already allows you to concentrate on where your fingers are going and the sound you are making, rather than worrying about counting out the timing. The clear, unfilled notes are called minims, and these are held for two beats as they are worth twice the value of crotchets. If you happen to be really enthusiastic about learning the piano but you don’t desire to be bound to a regular fixed routine of attending a music class, you can do it at the coziness of your own home and also at your own personal schedule.
In addition, there are those who provide live chat when you are on your online lessons and this enables you to make inquiries to your piano tutor instantly. A few of these software are also interactive and include animated exercises to make the training enjoyable particularly for children who don’t pay much attentiveness when it comes to extended tutorial sessions. In case you are too keen to learn and you desire to learn quickly, then you can certainly go to your online lessons as frequently as you would like rather than sticking with a regular routine set by your instructor.
However, one drawback of learning to play the piano online is that, your errors can never be resolved. From electronic keyboards to traditional pianos, this category is one of the most popular in the world. But piano lessons for beginners should include an understanding of where the instrument came from and what forms it is or was available in.
It may seem like a slow start, but it is the only way to truly understand a keyboard instrument and how it is played. That way you will have a basic understanding to build on as the teacher goes through the initial instruction with you.
It’s good for the mind, builds confidence and will give you a unique skill that others will admire. Then it dawned on me that I could tackle my never ending waiting list by teaching students from my home without their having to leave their homes by using the power of the internet! No longer did I have to travel the long distances to my place of work and my students didn’t need to lave their homes.
This year my faith in remote teaching was given another boost when two of my Skype students attained the highest ABRSM exam marks possible.
I follow up with detailed lesson notes after every session, compiled around the strengths and weaknesses of the lesson and emailed to the student (and parents) straight away, so home practice sessions are more focussed. I will be entering some students in Riyadh for ABRSM exams next year, at the British International School Of Riyadh.
The whole concert will be webcast live, so remote students will be able to watch the entire event.
Many people believe that you can only be successful by hiring a professional piano instructor.

You may want to start out with a smaller electronic keyboard just to get an idea of whether or not you will really enjoy playing piano. Try setting up mini goals or objectives such as learning a specific section of a larger piece each week. By adding lots of easy songs to your repertoire, you will be able to share your accomplishments with others more quickly. Your practice sessions should be an enjoyable way to pass the time and give you the opportunity to participate in an enriching hobby.
Just run your fingers along the keys and see if any stick or have a tinny, reverberating sound. Your elbows should be positioned approximately at your waist with your forearms stretching out at a 90 degree angle from your upper arm, not on an angle.
There are a couple of other clefs as well, but we won't be looking at those in these lessons. In vocal music, both soprano and contralto parts now use the treble clef, while tenor and bass parts use the bass clef.
When you see this number underneath a note, you know that this is the finger that I recommend you use to play the note with.
Also, to help you learn the note names, the letter names for each note have been included in the music.
Needless to say, you can even replay whatever it is which you find tough in your learning until you finally get it right – that you are not able to do with your tutor in the traditional setting. Particularly if you are just a novice to play instruments, it would not be good to leave the playing errors uncorrected because this may become bad habits in the future. They are easy to recognize, even for someone who has never had a single music lesson in their life. Even today many people register for piano lessons for beginners with the desire to master this captivating sound creator.
The unique sounds and arrangement of the synthesizer encouraged a shift toward the title “keyboard player” for those who preferred its electronic charms. Many piano lessons for beginers books are available as well as online resources that include diagrams of the keys and notes and the chords they are associated with. Make sure you begin with reliable learning tools that provide accurate information and efficient learning techniques. Since fulfilling my dream I have worked in schools, taught privately, worked for the local government’s Manchester Music Services (UK) visiting and teaching in various schools, worked as a Secondary and Primary School Music Teacher, and have been head of a large music department which I created at an International School from its inauguration 13 years ago. Fortunately by this time, things had speeded up a little since the days of my old dial-up connection and a wonderful thing called Skype had been invented, enabling live, real-time video links. Both myself and my wonderful student could not believe the ease at which the lesson went, it was a dream!
Incidentally, I teach two sisters who live within walking distance from my house but they have opted for lessons through Skype early Saturday mornings, so they can stay at home don’t have to change out of their pyjamas! One of the two was asked to play and performed at the ABRSM Regional High Scorers Concert in Sevilla last month.
I found myself writing far more lesson notes for online teaching than I ever did with face-to-face lessons, partly because I have more time to do them, working outside of the hectic face-to-face schedule I was in and around as Head of Music at the school. When I visit my students they can also see I’m not a cyborg in their computer, although by maintaining a sense of humour and fun during online lessons does help to dispel this misconception. The web address for the webcast of the concert will be published on my website near or on the day of the event.
Others have proven this untrue by successfully learning to play the piano using handy online instruction. By breaking down your goals into doable objectives, practicing on a regular basis and being sure to include fun in all of your sessions you will surely enjoy success! As you continue to play, you will be constantly going over everything again and again, and you will find that it gradually all comes together.
Uncorrected flaws can be hard to rectify when it has turned into a habit and may distract your efficiency.
And, when played properly, keyboard instruments are capable of producing the most elegant, moving sounds. This can get you very far as you master the simpler concepts and move on to more advanced song playing.
The only downside was that I was unable to give them a hug at the end of the lesson, so we settled for a virtual one instead. Everyone, besides students, is invited to attend the concert without having to leave their homes!
Whether you hire a teacher, practice online or both there are certain habits you will want to establish that will guarantee your success. These same notes are repeated all the way up and down the piano and the notes within each octave are called scales. In this article, we will describe some smart steps you can take to learn how to play the piano.
This innovation began in the 1950s when bands started experimenting with plug in instruments.
