Academic
Standing
Whereas SCSU exists for the primary purpose of furthering
academic excellence; and
Whereas the Academic Standing Committee has expressed its
displeasure regarding the failure to provide an appeals process for students
dismissed for academic reasons during the Summer semester of 2002; and
Whereas, these
students became ineligible for financial aid they had been awarded, were denied
the opportunity to attend summer school in order to qualify for matriculated
status, and had their fall schedules dropped:
Be it resolved that prior to the end of the Fall 2002 semester, the
Vice President of Academic Affairs, the Office of Information Technology,
Counseling Services, and any other pertinent parties provide a detailed and
cooperative plan for identifying, notifying and working with those students who
are academically dismissed or on academic probation.
