Unfortunately, without a lot of knowledge on how food breaks down in the body or what happens as you exercise on a molecular level, I am often doing my workouts and my body an injustice. Yesterday, I went to the gym and decided to really push myself, and I ran a 9:06 minute mile which is probably the fastest mile I’ve done in years! Afterwards I was beat, but wanted to make the most of my gym membership and outing, especially as the kids were safely being watched in the childcare.
As I was staring off at the mute TV for a minute, a trainer came by and asked how I was doing, and if I would like to work out with him today because his trainee didn’t show up, so he was free. We started this pretty interesting workout, using a kettle-ball for the first time and stretchy rope things attached to the wall.
It is generally recommended that you eat at least 45 minutes or more after eating to begin your workout.
Again, it is recommended to hydrate well before your workout will begin, at least 45 minutes, but to also not overdo it. Apparently, many of us are thirstier than we think, and are at risk of dehydration without the vigorous workout at the gym. DripDrop is available at CVS, Walgreens, and H-E-B for about $10 and right now you can score a $2 off coupon HERE.I was told at the gym today that people should be drinking about half of their body weight in ounces. Because laundry is loads of fun, I'm giving away 3 FREE Laundry Room Printables when you subscribe to my mailing list.
This German delicacy (P690) is part of Brotzeit’s new menu, but we have high hopes for it to become a bestseller soon.
Chef Aileen Anastacio is a whiz in the kitchen and her menu is always buzzing with her constant ideas. Marmalade Kitchen is at Forum South Global, 7th Street corner Federacion Drive, Bonifacio Global City.
It’s tradition to eat yee sang every Chinese New Year and Shang Palace has one of the best. Smoked salmon, scrambled eggs, generous slathers of cream cheese, and just the right amount of capers, all on perfectly toasted bread (P395). Everyone waxes poetic over the Pork and Potato Crisps and Buttermilk Fried Chicken-including us, of course-but there are sleeper favorites like this scrumptious platter of fried potatoes and cubes of melt-in-your-mouth Angus beef (P539). Our love for their chocolate cake is well-known by now, but color us happily surprised when we decided to stray from the usual one Sunday evening and ordered the Peach Walnut Pavlova (P100) for dessert instead.
This breakfast alternative marries sweet and salty perfectly, with that delicate sprinkle of milk powder caramelizing to give off a nice sweetness that brings out the savoriness of ham and cheese. From time to time friends will ask me for a list of my favorite things to do and places to eat in New Orleans when they are planning to travel there. Here’s a list of some of my personal favorite things to do and places (or things) to eat in New Orleans and the French Quarter. Po-boys: You can get these most anywhere, they are sandwiches served on a French baguette usually with fried seafood like shrimp, oysters, crawfish etc. Port of Call: This place is a bit of a walk from the French Quarter, over on Esplanade, but well worth it. Oceana Grill: this is in the heart of the French Quarter, they have a little bit of everything and plenty of classic New Orleans cuisine and they have good prices.
The Carousel Bar at Hotel Monteleone: This was the bar at the hotel Lance and I stayed at on our honeymoon.
Tip: In case you didna€™t already know, you can carry your drinks with you as you walk down Bourbon Street and sometimes into other bars, just as long as they arena€™t glass! Jackson Square: A cool place to walk around and check out a€“ Around the square you can find St.

If you’re looking for some more information about a few of the places I’ve mentioned, check out my New Orleans trip recaps here! October 23, 2014 By Katelyn Fagan 4 Comments I am not a regular exerciser, have never taken anatomy, and don’t care much for anything medical-related. And one of the biggest things I do wrong but can easily fix is what I eat and drink before a workout and after a workout. So, after hearing what he told me, as well as after doing some of my own research, I have compiled the following suggestions and lists.
I know I personally do not drink enough water throughout the day, and I do get fatigued and sometimes get headaches or become weak and light-headed. So, if I weigh 145 lbs, I would need to drink about 72 ounces of water every day, or slightly more than four 16.9oz bottles of water, just to stay fully hydrated.
EXAMPLE never eat peanut butter before a workout as fatty food are harder to do digest and could cause gastrointestinal issues. The salt cod has been soaked in cold water for two to three days, but there’s just enough of that distinct brine for it to stand out.
This new Japanese joint at SM Aura tries to go all out with stations for teppanyaki, sushi, sukiyaki, and katsu. EDSA Shangri-La Executive Chef Warren Brown crafted a few British classics for January's Great British Feast.
The salmon's brine goes well with the cheese and the sharp saltiness of the capers, and the toast adds perfect texture. Lightly creamy and nutty, with just a touch of citrus zing from lemon curd cutting into the sweetness of the peach, this cake is like summer in a slice. I’ve got a little bit of everything on the list, weather you are planning a trip there for Mardi Gras or just a fun vacation to a new place. I had a really good one at Napoleon House when we were there last March – but Central Grocery on Decatur has some too and they are more of a to-go type place versus a sit down.
I also like that you can get a sampler of some of the classic New Orleans dishes (jambalaya, gumbo, crawfish etoufee, red beans and rice). Not really authentic New Orleans cuisine, but the best burger you will ever eat in your life. They have everything from gumbo to po-boys, to red beans and rice – plus plenty of other interesting dishes. A lot of places that make them fresh will package them up for you so you can take them with you – a definitely must.
I fell in love with Abita on my first trip to NOLA and get excited if I happen to find any here in AZ. However, if you go in the winter (probably before like April) don’t expect to see any alligators – they hibernate!
Ia€™d recommend going early before they it gets too crowded but keep in mind sometimes ita€™s a little challenging to find the stairs to get up there.
The zoo is inside Audubon Park, which is a gorgeous park thata€™s worth a trip all on its own. So, I am thankful for DripDrop and SheSpeaks for sponsoring this post today and for providing me with product. So, he had me go to a different room and do a weight machine, but then I was just weak and started to feel light-headed and sick.
Because, don’t be like me, and feel completely horrible after a workout (or during!). Baking it for only five minutes in the oven guarantees soft succulent flesh underneath that deliciously crisp skin.

Chefs with their fancy knife work and cooking acrobatics will hypnotise you to try the teppanyaki, but while you wait for your tender, sweet-spicy beef, have this pretty four-piece plate (P320). A host adds the ingredients (each with their own significance) one by one on top of the noodles and everyone tosses it by standing in a circle with their chopsticks. Maybe I’m biased since Lance and I spent our honeymoon there, but I really do think ita€™s a fun City with a lot to offer! It is right down by the water which is a nice place to walk – or take your coffee across the street to Jackson Square to walk around. Ita€™s in a tiny place that looks like a house, so if you go on a weekend you will wait an hour at minimum. If you like alfredo at all, I highly recommend ordering it for dinner, it’s house-made and really good (I added blackened chicken to mine and it was phenomenal).
They have a few different varieties that are quite yummy but the strawberry is probably my ultimate favorite. There are also lots of vendors and artists that have stuff set up around the square which is neat too. Lots of old above ground graves and you can see the grave of Marie Laveau the Voo Doo Queen and Nicholas Cages family tomb. From what I noticed, the bars don’t charge you to be up there, but that might not be the case for Mardi Gras. I told him this and he told me some things that would be better to eat before a workout, as well as after. I had to sit down for a long time, drink a bunch of water, and begged off a granola bar from one of the child watch personnel. When I got home I replenished with a banana and yogurt and by mixing and drinking a DripDrop packet mixed into 8 oz of water (and drank another glass about an hour later). DripDrop boasts that it hydrates 34% faster than water alone, and 20% faster than a sports drink. I drink tons of water, usually with a couple of slices of lemon and some mint leaves thrown in. Here, the chefs prove that sushi is indeed an art, prettily stuffing the green rice roll with tempura soft-shell crab, asparagus, cucumber, mango-honey sauce, and topping it with mayo and unagi sauce.
The sauce is smooth and rich with a tang that wraps around the beautiful smokiness of bacon and the richness of perfectly runny eggs.
I couldn’t muster up the strength to stand up and carry my son to the car and drive home I was so weak and utterly exhausted! Also definitely try one of their drinks while you are waiting for a table…they are strooong. It is a simple, cost-effective powder solution that allows everyone to treat mild to moderate dehydration with a safe, medical-grade solution. I like having some fresh fruit after a workout or mashed avocado on a whole wheat english muffin. Their hydration powder packets fit easily in the medicine cabinet, travel kit, purse and gym bag, so it’s there when you need it.
I hope you found posts that are honest, practical, and helpful to your soul, home, health, children, and spouse.
