When you’re following the Paleo Diet properly and you still have health issues and are not able to lose weight, you may have food sensitivities. For many people though, the scales and weighing is as much an addiction as sugar or grains.
While the above issues are no longer my problem, I believe the problem behind is real and it’s not as easy as the recommendations (common sense as they sound) seem to suggest. Most people need a higher percentage of fat daily than you think, and this especially is true for those that are metabolically challenged and who have problems losing weight.
Even though they are made with healthy sweeteners such as grade B maple syrup and raw honey, they’re still sweet and some people can tend to lean on them too much. Also even healthy sweeteners can cause blood sugar swings even in those that are not diabetic or even pre-diabetic. It also doesn’t even matter especially how many calories one eats, if the carbs are too high, your body may decide to hold onto the weight.
I had done a bunch of internet surfing and research and didn’t find half of the info that I found in your book.
I would say to slowly increase fat over a number of days or weeks, and it could be a tablespoon of butter or coconut oil, but it really depends on what else you’re eating, such as meats, dairy etc.
But yeah when I did this I had the same experience, my carbs were higher than I thought even though I was eating low carb. I’ll try to share one of these with you guys every week, since we all love these Paleo testimonials. I too discovered Paleo and have no idea why THIS way of eating all of a sudden makes sense to me.
For example, I’ve seen patients sensitive to foods like salmon, broccoli, lettuce, papaya, and more. It is frustrating to not have lost a pound but my pants are fitting better too, I’m sleeping better (not longer tho) and my digestion has improved.
This causes a reduction in caloric intake and an increase in expenditure causing body fat to reduce.
I have not had more than 6 hours of sleep a night in the last 2 weeks that I’ve gained weight.
With the BioSig software you can detail the scale weight, lean body mass % and bodyfat % but chicks+scale (always) = horrible combo.
Therefore, Amy, while I appreciate everything that Robbs has been doing and saying, I’d be a more critical on this.
Just green salad or broccoli would make fail to see the difference between a mouth and etc. Take a swig of MCT oil in the morning for extra energy, and for goodness sakes, use olive oil or butter on your vegetables and real mayonnaise or salad dressings on your salads, not the stuff in the bottles. When you’re in ketosis, your hunger between meals drop and your satisfaction with foods increases. I mean, many people are on keto not to lose weight but to control inflammation and disease progression. I want to lose and thought I was already eating low carb paleo but I was much higher on carbs than I thought. Since I have adopted the Paleo lifestyle, I have lost over 46lbs (21kg) and I am happier and healthier than ever before. When you identify your food sensitivities and eliminate those foods, you will feel better and get better results. I understand that this is not a normal experience, but it is proof that Calories are NOT the only thing that matters.
I thought it was impossible but I repeated the pattern many times and the outcome was always the same. Your mental fogginess will clear and your energy level will increase, along with the quality of your sleep, and life in general! I forced myself to chop vegetables everyday, which actually turned out to be like exercise – you struggle to start and within 10 minutes of the warm up, you start to feel a therapeutic glow inside!
Could it be that in some people, even a minimal amount of carbs in the diet drives the insulin crazy high? I eventually needed medication to bring my HS into remission, but following a Paleo diet made the medication tolerable and now Paleo eating keeps my HS completely under control.
The day I tried on a pair of size 16 pants versus my normal 24… I sobbed in the dressing room at Kohls.
If you choose to drive the boat your own way, focus on the scale, you will do neurotic shit and you will scuttle the effort. Could it be that the person is so unstable that even minor stress causes cortisol realease?
