It started a while ago when I promised myself that I would buy myself the new (and insanely gorgeous) MacBook that I had my eye on for ages when I lost 15 pounds. Sadly, I am not done dieting (is a woman ever done dieting?) but I have learned a couple of things that helped me lose these 15 pounds. 1) Spicy Baked Zucchini Sticks: this is one of the favorite recipes all time on my blog, and possibly the favorite in terms of feedback from my readers. 3) Citrus Shallot Salad Dressing: One of my big diet things is eating a huge salad with some lean protein in it for lunch. 5) Raspberry Zinger Vinaigrette:  This is an old favorite salad dressing, and I make it all the time.
6) Marinated Tri Color Pepper Salad: This is basically what I make every time I see peppers on sale at the grocery store. 10) Grilled Chicken: I make a number of different grilled chicken varieties, but two of my favorites are my asian inspired mustard marinated chicken and this simple yet delicious herb marinated grilled chicken. Both are simple and delicious, and of course, are delicious on the grill this summer! 11) Roasted Green Beans with Shallots and Tomatoes: Are you noticing a pattern here with the roasted vegetable recipes? 13) Healthy Muffins: While I know that dieters shouldn’t be eating a ton of baked goods, everyone needs a treat every now and then, and these muffins are just the thing!
14) Herb Roasted Sweet Potatoes: Sweet potatoes are better for you than their white cousin, and these delicious herb roasted sweet potatoes are a delicious and healthy way to prepare them! I remember quite some time ago, when we were discussing weight loss strategies (before my 40-lb. I have been flooded with questions and messages from some of you guys ever since I mentioned in my Dresses for Your Shape video that I dropped 15-20lbs when I was in my teens.

I really hope this post will help some of you who are trying to lose weight, as I know how difficult it can be. Growing up, she would sneak downstairs after her family had gone to sleep and numb her anxiety by digging into a half-gallon container. As the oldest child of a struggling Jehovah’s Witness family, Stanton shouldered a lot of responsibilities at a young age. They ate a lot of ground beef, spaghetti and the occasional treat of a take-and-bake pizza. Stanton knew she was overweight in the first grade when she looked down and saw her feet swelling out of her Mary Janes.
She moved to Pennsylvania to get a doctorate degree in Human Development and Family Studies, but she and Laundry reconnected when she returned to Seattle.

Laundry told Stanton about how he had lost a lot of weight on a low-sugar diet and encouraged her to try it for herself. But at 215 pounds, she figured it was about time she let go of her reliance on food to ease her anxiety.
In a little more than a year, by the time she and Laundry were married in June 2012, Stanton had gone from 215 pounds to 157 pounds. Instead of sneaking ice cream at night, she now sets aside time for meditation in order to cope with stress.
I love sharing funny little anecdotes with all of you, but I am usually uncomfortable sharing more personal information here. And since then, I have been dieting hard, more motivated than ever to shed a couple of pounds.
In the last couple of months I have made a huge number of delicious desserts, including a huge number of of cheesecakes. If you have some delicious recipes that you cook while dieting, I would love to hear about them in the comments! I love this recipe because it’s easy and versatile, and I basically toss in whatever veggies I have on hand.
It is super easy to make, but totally different, so it’s great when you need a change of pace. It makes me feel like I am eating really fattening, delicious fast-food or restaurant food, but it’s so much healthier than it tastes! Say no to fast foodI don't think I ever ate fast food when I was a teen, whether I was trying to lose weight or not.
Her mother suffered from a number of health issues, and her father worked three jobs just to put food on the table.
Nearly all Stanton’s family was overweight, as they had neither the resources nor the knowledge to prepare healthy meals regularly.
They would wait in line for government-issued cheese and foodstuffs like powdered eggs and milk.
But it wasn’t until her freshman year of high school that she made the connection between what she was eating and her body size.
She gave her car to a relative and started walking and biking everywhere, losing 50 pounds almost without effort.

She was pursuing her degree in psychology at the University of Washington at the time and weighed 215 pounds. They bonded over raising teenage boys: Stanton had adopted her son, David, in 2010, and Laundry was taking care of his teenage brother.
She eliminated pastries, fast food, ice cream and even fruit with high amounts of sugar from her diet. She also stays active by walking two miles as part of her regular commute, and running or going to the gym on weekends. It is super easy to make (cutting the stick shape takes about a minute or less per zucchini) and the abundance of flavor and spice means you barely notice how healthy it is! I mix this dressing with lettuce (usually romaine, sometimes spinach though) and some mange, some red cabbage, some nuts…it’s totally versatile!
Green beans are filling and in season, and the shallots and cherry tomatoes compliment them perfectly.
Add some other veggies like zucchini, or some other mushroom varieties like portabella or cremini. Healthy Chocolate Cheesecake Pancakes, Healthy Oatmeal Pumpkin Pancakes, and Healthy Cottage Cheese Blueberry Pancakes are all great and healthy options!
My motto on dieting is to eat well (so you don’t crave the bad stuff) and it sounds like you’re doing just that!
But there was one change she was still unable to make: sneaking food at night to comfort herself. She grew depressed when she realized the church she had joined wasn’t as welcoming as the one in her hometown of Portland, which was her only social outlet as a child.
While Laundry was interested in pursuing a romantic relationship, Stanton wouldn’t allow herself to think that he could be in love with her. Instead, she started eating salmon, tofu and grapefruit, learning the difference between emotional hunger and physical hunger. Partly because I wanted to lose the weight, but mostly because I wanted to buy my new macbook already.
With the abundance of zucchini this summer, I find myself turning to this recipe really frequently.
I also played piano which took up a huge chunk of my day (I practised for an hour every single day!).
I’ve set a similar health goal and have promised myself the tattoo I’ve always wanted when I reach it!
