This is the first in a series of blog posts describing my journey to lose my excess baby weight gained during my second pregnancy. Well despite losing my appetite during my pregnancy and trying very hard to make healthy meals throughout the last 9 months I’ve still managed to end up 33 pounds heavier after having my baby. I want to stop eating junk as it’s not doing me any good and losing weight is a good incentive to eat more healthily. I want to encourage others to get healthy and lose excess weight and I can’t do that if I am overweight myself. I find exercise easier when I’m not carrying around all that excess weight and I find it easier to run around with my kids. My husband is getting through this tough time with coffee but I can’t drink the stuff, so chocolate it is for now!
So with all these great reasons for drinking green thickies, why on earth would I want to do anything else this time around.

If you’ve read the article circulating lately about the inherent dangers of drinking large quantities of green smoothies or eating large quantities of raw greens, you might be wondering if green smoothies are really hazardous to your health, and what you should do about it. While many people have been drinking green smoothies daily for years without any challenges and plenty of health benefits, it’s wise to be mindful of all potential risks when you’re exploring the realm of personal health and well-being. Greens have not been found to cause arthritis, nor have they shown to aggravate the condition.
One last point is that the oxalate content of greens with block your body’s ability to absorb calcium. It should also be noted that the foods that truly contain dangerous and damaging levels of oxalates are soda pop, processed animal foods, processed sugar and processed salts.

She believes that YOU are the expert on you, and she is simply there to offer you tools and techniques for reacquainting yourself with your own inner knowledge. But I have been searching for a more detailed plan to follow and doing it with someone would make it even better. Maybe some sort of ‘better in the morning, better in the afternoon, perfect for dinner’ type break down? Most nutritional experts or Naturopathic Doctors will recommend that you simply rotate your dark leafy greens, especially Spinach and Chard.
I was thinking that we could all comment on your blog updates of your progress with our weight loss numbers and things we found that worked or didnt work etc. The more minerals you have in your system, the more those minerals can bind with oxalates in your gastrointestinal tract and usher them out of the body, blocking them from being reabsorbed and causing harm.
