The severity of symptoms associated with hip strains depends on the severity of the strain. Grade 1 strains involve minor tearing of muscle fibers with only minimal or no loss in strength. In some cases hip flexor strain or hip flexor tear may develop gradually due to prolonged or repetitive strain on the hip flexor muscles which may result from excessive sprinting and repetitive kicking.
