AutoCAD Tasks
Introduction
Starting in Clarity 2022, Clarity supports AutoCAD files
as "first-class citizens" within the Clarity environment. This
page describes some of the intricacies of how this operates.
Using AutoCAD files
in a Clarity Project
As part of the Clarity Project setup, you
will now check a box for "Use Revit Files" or "Use AutoCAD
Files" or both, when you setup or edit your project. If you choose
to use AutoCAD, you will see both DWG and DST files appearing in your
files page, your project home page, and - where appropriate - your task
target pages.
AutoCAD tasks are managed separately from Revit tasks
(for example, the "PDF" task still only does "Revit to
PDF"- there is a separate task called "AutoCAD to PDF").
How to AutoCAD Tasks
Operate?
AutoCAD Tasks are run via the Clarity Windows
Task Server on each task server. You will have to have a licensed copy
of AutoCAD installed to run from.
Clarity will determine which version you have installed
at runtime (unless you add the specification to the task to run a specific
flavor).
Clarity goes through a slightly complex process to launch
from the running Windows Service into the currently logged in account's
windows session to be able to run and take advantage of the graphics card.
While not strictly a requirement, IMAGINiT highly recommends making it
possible to leave a logged-in user (even if the display is locked) at
all times on a task server.
