This newsletter is designed to provide a channel of communication to members and prospective members. IFMA, PO BOX 808, RICHMOND, VA 23218 Breaking news about Ferguson Enterprises' $82.8 million expansion of its headquarters down in New-port News gives increased responsibilities to Mem-bership Co-Chair Cameron Bridges, forcing him to resign his post prior to the end of the year. Ferguson, the U.S.'s largest wholesale distributor of residential and commercial plumbing supplies and pipes, valves and fittings will be adding to its existing corporate HQ near the Newport News/Williamsburg Airport, with a new campus in the Oyster Point area that will house its IT workforce and other corporate functions. At a meet-ing down in that area on 6/5, Gov. McAuliffe announced a $2 million grant to Ferguson from the State's Opportunity Fund on the premise that the expansion will create 434 new jobs while retaining more than 1,000 existing ones. Thanks to Cameron for his service to the Chapter, with our hope that he will be able to continue to be with us at meetings as he has been in the past. Not such favorable news from Deco at CNB, where we met back in Sep-tember. They apparently had a broken water line and had considerable flooding in the annex section on the west side of the main tower. Appar-ently none of the apartments in the main tower damaged, but some sig-nificant clean-up needed on the annex side. Also not such good news about Frits Huntjens and his Farmer's Market restaurant in Petersburg. Wasn't that long ago I reported that he and a partner had opened a restaurant and bar in January in the newly reno-vated historic building. Now we learn that it closed on 5/22 and the land-lord has slapped a big law suit on Frits for rent and damages. Many of us remember Frits as the celebrity chef from the 1 North Belmont restau-rant who had moved to become the executive chef at Westminster Can-terbury when we met there in April of '15. We also know Frits as the hus-band of Andrea Huntjens whose Sophisticated Soirees did such a nice job of providing the refreshments (I still remember her Figs in a Blanket) at a number of our meetings until she and Frits moved down to Peters-burg last year. It appears that Frits may have bit off too much in trying to offer a high end menu with high end ambiance in a formerly depressed area that is trying to make a come back. Hope both he and Andrea come through these difficulties OK. Also some lawsuits filed between the State and Northrup Grumman over breaches of their IT contract as they go through a divorce which has gotten messy. Doesn't seem that long ago, but it was way back in October of '07 when we met down at the new VITA facility in Mead-owville Technology park and found relations between the State and its contractor much more cordial. Not so far back, but in August of '11 when we met at GRTC's HQ on Belt Blvd. Now they have purchased the nearby property of the former Anti-och Christian Center for $1.7 million in order to get the additional bus storage space they will need when the barrels are finally removed from (Continued on page 3)
