Both these home workout DVD programs are solid, so you need to determine if your goal is to get Lean and Fit (Insanity) or Strong and Ripped (P90X).

When the weather wasn't so hot or we just weren't feeling the busy gym, each of these DVDs helped get our hearts pumping in our living rooms.


That's why we sifted through the newest ones (fast-forwarding through the really terrible DVDs) and rounded up our favorites. They're pretty and well produced, the music isn't annoying, and -- this one is huge -- you get a workout that's as good as going to a spendy class. Especially during the winter if I can't motivate to go to the gym--I can get a good workout without leaving home. The Insanity Fit Test seemed to be more concerned with setting a baseline to measure progress, and the P90X Fit Test was to determine if the person is in the right shape to attempt the P90X Workout.
Some people need the nutrition information more than others, but I believe that the right diet is critical to the success of the either program.
Given the number of DVDs in these programs, it is clear that they both have a substantial amount of content. I have a Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, a Masters Degree in Theology, and a Project Management Professional (PMP) Credential through the PMI specializing in Software Development and Internet Marketing Systems. The Insanity Workout is a balance between cardio and strength training, so Insanity dishes out both cardio and strength training daily which is a good balance if you want to get lean and fit. I felt that both of the test set a great baseline to measure improvement which is critical when trying to stay motivated.
Without enough of the correct fuel for your body, you will not be able to recover from these extreme workouts that you are putting your body through daily. So, this might be better for people that just cannot do crunches or just do not like to do them. I recommend that you purchasing a higher quality DVD case to store the disks because you will be taking them in and out of the case daily to use for the workouts.


The P90X workout is more strength training with a couple of cardio days throughout the week, but the most of the workouts target muscle building which will lead to getting strong and ripped.
When you take a look back at the initial Fit Test results, it is obvious that progress has been substantial.
Once you finish one of these programs and look back at how far you have come in such a short period of time, you will be amazed.
For example, I could not even do 4 full pullups when I started P90X, but by the end of the first 90 days, I was able to do about 6 sets of 10 to 12 pullups. The cardboard will be break down over time due to daily use which could lead to your DVDs being left out unprotected over time. Muscle Confusion is basically adding variety to keep challenging the body making it harder for your body to plateau. At that point, there was no question that progress was made without even getting on the scale or taking time to do full body measurements. I want to be clear that Insanity will build strength, but it is just more balanced; for example, you will still be doing a lot of pushup throughout the week. A scratched DVD in the middle of the 60-90 day program could be frustrating, so you should protect the DVDs as much as reasonably possible. I have noticed that Insanity seems to be a very similar workout day when comparing Insanity vs P90X.
Insanity and P90X Fit tests also reveal the goals of these programs because the Insanity Fit Test is again mixed and the P90X Fit Test is more strength related.
