Old bodybuilder workout, how to get a bigger neck and shoulders - For You

Author: admin
Bill says that the legends (Arnold, Frank Zane, Robby Robinson, Mike Katz and others) would workout together for 2 hours with “unbelievable” intensity. This is a classic old school arm workout that works out great on the arms for better gains. Another great bodybuilder, Marvin Eder, was known for going heavy on dips, behind the neck press, and one-arm chin-ups.
While there is place for split training workouts, full body training is much more powerful and useful.
If you’re an old school bodybuilder and have been working out in dungeon-like gyms for decades, you know that workout catacombs are a dying breed. When I was in school, we had cafeterias that took pride in their meals and were cooked by little old ladies in the back. This diet started way back maybe even beyond the 50s but I do remember in 1967 many of the bodybuilders on the beach drinking quart containers of extra rich milk or even cream.

My intent, through this post, is to revisit the old school bodybuilding principles, which, in my opinion, are safer to follow. America, in 1940.  In the 1940s, John Grimek, Clarence Ross and Steve Reeves were the most popular names in bodybuilding. Bodybuilders pay more attention to juice, equipment and supplements than on pure, raw workouts.
Modern training principles, when used in conjunction with this old, basic routine, work wonders. These are the same techniques that bodybuilding greats such as Steve Reeves and Reg Park incorporated in their routines to achieve huge, symmetrical physiques. Old school bodybuilders such as Steve Reeves and Reg Park were big fans of full body workout.
In the 1960s, bodybuilding took a major turn when Arnold Schwarzenegger arrived on the circuit.

Steve Reeves, with his movie star looks and amazingly aesthetic physique, made bodybuilding highly popular. For example, ‘behind the neck press’, a classic exercise for developing the shoulders, was common in the old days. Not so fast. There’s no doubt that the old dungeon-inspired gyms leave most people with rocks the size of Stonehenge in the pit of their stomach. On one hand, hardcore aficionados who began training pre-1990’s wouldn’t dream of adopting newfangled training methods for fear that they might lose the original flavor of a 3 day split or an old-fashioned post-squat puke.
