Squats below 100 degrees of knee flexion (ie, slightly deeper than parallel) are, despite what some people will claim, bad for the knee joint due to force placed on the ligaments and the tibiofemoral force produced from the depth. I've been messing around with different squat depths recently, and just below parallel feels really good, whereas ATG feels like death.

Like theses football players at my school gym that squats 315 for 5-6 at 45° max and think they're the most bad ass lifters of the universe. From what I have gathered ATG is better than this, but worse than a good competition squat.
