Has Cold Fusion Finally Been Conquered?Andrea Rossi’s E-Cat — the device that purports to use cold fusion to generate massive amounts of cheap, green energy – has been verified by third-party researchers, according to a new 54-page report.
This following report on the E-Cat was carried out by six (reputable) researchers from Italy and Sweden.
While the new E-Cat looks very different from previous iterations, the researchers say that it uses the same “hydrogen-loaded nickel” and additives (most notably lithium) as a fuel. Obviously, if these third-party findings are to be believed — if the E-Cat really is performing cold fusion — then this is rather exciting. Before the world can be changed, however, there will now be a very extensive period of scrutiny from the scientific community at large. China has passed controversial new anti-terrorism laws, saying they are needed to combat growing threats. To build your own device, you’ll need some basic soldering skills, the list of stuff below, about 6 hours of free time (plus time for glue to dry) and the can-do attitude of a geek who doesn’t want to pay $450 for a water heater.  Click the “more” link for complete step-by-step instructions.
If these instructions have helped you build you own machine, I hope you’ll consider donating.  My goal is to mass-produce the world’s first sous vide heating immersion circulator for under $100, and every donation helps! I’ve included a cutting template that is matched to the heaters, PID controller and switch in the shopping list.  However, if you use different parts (different models, different manufacturers) you’ll need to adjust the template to ensure a tight fit of all parts.
Next, dry-fit all of the parts to ensure a good, snug fit.  The tighter the fit, the more sturdy the finished product will be.
The mounting bracket is a J-shaped piece of acrylic that will let you attach the finished sous vide cooker to the side of a pot or basin. Cut out the rectangle on the 2nd page of the parts diagram and drill the hole as indicated. Find a rectangular surface that will allow you to make the 2 90-degree bends necessary to shape the acrylic into a “J”.  I used a small, glass olive oil bottle with flat sides and rounded corners. The immersion heaters are the primary working element of the sous vide machine.  We’ll mount them hanging down from the bottom of the enclosure, and arranged so that the opening in the middle of the coil is lined up between all three heaters.
Cut the power cord off of each heater, leaving about a 4” tail of wires from the heating end.  Keep one of the long lengths of power cord (including the plug) to use later as the main power cord.
Using your hobby knife, scrape down the flat sides of the heater handles to remove lettering and to flatten out the circular rim at the top of the handle.  This will allow for a deeper and tighter fit in the heater openings.
Apply a small bead of tub and tile caulk around the heaters on the outside of the enclosure.  Allow to dry overnight before proceeding.
CAUTION: Don’t ever power on the heater coils unless they are submerged in water!  Also, don’t electrocute yourself. Of the leads you have coming out of the heater bundles, one will go straight to the incoming power, and the other will go to the relay that turns on and off the heaters.
If you are using the PT100 thermocouple (which I recommend), make sure you connect the leads exactly as shown in the wiring diagram or you will have an inaccurate temperature reading.  (There’s no instruction manual with these probes, so it took 30 minutes of trying different combinations before I found the right one).
Using Krazy Glue, glue the J clamp to the bottom-front of the enclosure.  Wait until dry before proceeding.
Glue the nut for the eye bolt to the inside of the hole in the J clamp.  Ensure that the nut lines up with the hole so the eye bolt can pass through.
Stick the suction cup feet of the immersion pump to the flat end of the J clamp and position the water outlet to pump through the middle of the heating coils. For programming instructions such as running Auto-tune and changing alarm values, refer to the JLD612 manual.  Here are the steps you should take when programming your controller for the first time. I’m thrilled to start playing with sous vide cooking, and I’m happy that I was able to build an accurate, reliable machine for $75.  Even the PID Controller + Crockpot method costs $185 (not including the Crockpot!).

The factory recommended "inspection" interval for the timing belt on this particular engine is 30,000 miles, and the recommended replacement interval is 60,000 miles. Many motorists are unaware of these recommendations and typically do nothing until the timing belt fails -- which is bad news because the 1.6L E-TECH II engine is an interference engine. Some of the OEM timing belts on these engines have not even made it to the 60,000 mile mark.
In October, 2006, General Motors issued a technical service bulletin (TSB 06-06-01-021) offering motorists a free "goodwill" replacement timing belt (parts only, labor not included) for vehicles with 30,000 to 55,000 miles on the odometer that still have the original timing belt. Like all timing belt replacement jobs, the timing belt cover on the front of the engine will have to come off.
With these other parts out of the way, you can remove the serpentine belt, and then the crankshaft pulley bolt and the crankshaft pulley (you will probably need a puller to get the pulley off the nose of the crankshaft). Put the crank pulley bolt back into the end of the crankshaft, and rotate the crank as needed to align the mark on the crankshaft timing belt pulley with the notch on the bottom of the rear timing belt cover (the mark should be straight down).
Now you can loosen the water pump bolts and rotate the pump counterclockwise with special tool J42492-A (KM-421-A) to relieve tension on the belt. As we said earlier, it is a good idea to also go ahead and also replace the water pump, idler and tensioner pulleys at this time, too. Important: Ensure that the exhaust camshaft gear dowel pin (1) is approximately in the 11 o'clock position. GM recommends rotating the crankshaft twice after the initial adjustment to make sure all of the timing marks are correctly aligned. Once the belt has been properly tensioned and double-checked to make sure the timing marks are correctly aligned, you can put everything back in the reverse order it was taken apart.
Also, when you remount the right front wheel on the car, use a torque wrench on the lug nuts. Finally, inspect the timing belt after 30,000 miles, and replace it again at 120,000 miles, and again at 180,000 miles. Summary: This switched outlet electrical wiring diagram shows two scenarios of wiring for a typical half hot outlet that can be used to control a table or floor lamp.
The switched outlet wiring configurations show two different wiring scenarios which are most commonly used. The diagram shows the power entering into the circuit at the switch box location, then sending one power line for the outlet which is hot all the time and a switched leg for the top half of the outlet being used for a table lamp or a floor fixture. The diagram below shows the power entering the circuit at the grounded outlet box location, then sending power up to the switch and a switched leg back down to the outlet.
The switch I am replacing has two red wires plugged into the back and two black wires plugged into the one below.
The brass tab can be left in place if you no longer want half of the outlet to be controlled by the switch. How to Install Electrical Outlet and Switch Combo Wiring – In most cases, the primary power source is shared between the switch and the outlet, either with a wire jumper or the bridge or tab that is located on the side of the combo switch and outlet. How to Wire a Combo Switch Outlet: Wiring a Combo Switched Outlet or Half Hot Outlet, How to Convert a Switched Outlet. How to Wire Half Hot Switched Outlets: The brass tab is a link between the top and bottom receptacles that allow them to be isolated from one another for applications such as a wall outlet that has one receptacle controlled by the wall switch while the other receptacle is hot all the time. Wiring Diagrams for Half Hot Receptacles – A full set of wiring diagrams about how to wire half-hot and switched outlets. How to Wire a Half Hot Outlet and Switched Outlet: I have a problem with a duplex receptacle where the upper plug does not have power but the lower half does.

How to Wire Half-Hot Plugs and Switched Outlets: The outlets will need to be examined to identify the wiring that runs to the wall switch and then make the appropriate adjustment. Intermediate to Advanced - Outlet Circuits are Best Installed by a Licensed Electrical Contractor. Depends on personal level experience, ability to work with tools, install electrical outlets and wiring, and the available access to the project area.
Identify the outlet circuit, turn it OFF and Tag it with a Note before working with the wiring.
Electrical parts and materials for outlet wiring projects should be approved for the specific project and compliant with local and national electrical codes.
Installing additional electrical wiring for outlets should be done according to local and national electrical codes with a permit and be inspected. I think your site offers the the clearest and best electrical information for homeowners I have ever seen on the net.You have given me confidence to do my own projects which I never had before. I wish I found this site earlier, it is by far the best electrical related resource I have found on the web.
E39 (1997 - 2003) The BMW 5-Series (E39 chassis) was introduced in the United States as a 1997 model year car and lasted until the 2004 when the E60 chassis was released.
I am wondering where I can find the fuse box on my 528i and if anyone could post an overview of where all the fuses are supposed to be located? You REALLY should break down and buy the E39 Bentley Service Manual, esp if you plan to do any electrical troubleshooting at all! This is orders (plural) of magnitude higher than anything else ever tested — somewhere in the region of 100 times more power than the best supercapacitors, and maybe a million times more energy than gasoline. We are talking about an extremely cheap, green, and dense power source that could quite literally change the world. The previous third-party analysis of the E-Cat device, published in March 2013, was attacked and debunked very rapidly. Align the timing mark on the crankshaft gear to the notch on the bottom of the rear timing belt cover.
Rotate the coolant pump clockwise until the adjust arm pointer of the timing belt automatic tensioner is aligned to the notch in the timing belt automatic tensioner bracket.
Rotate the coolant pump until the adjust arm pointer of the timing belt automatic tensioner is aligned with the pointer on the timing belt automatic tensioner bracket. If I want to keep the same set up I can just connect the two red wires to the top brass screw and the two black wires to the bottom but must break the small brass tab between the screws not the plastic, correct?
It seems this new report has been intentionally designed so that there are fewer plot holes and logical leaps. If I don't care to use the wall switch all I have to do is to cap off the red and connect one black wire to one brass screw and one to the other brass screw without removing the brass tab, correct? Remember that this is a small device that produced these kinds of figures for 32 days straight.
The research paper has reportedly been submitted to the Arxiv pre-print server, with the hope of eventually being published in the Journal of Nuclear Physics. As for the one under the passenger side carpet in front of the seat, I'll have to check that one out myself.
