Here is a two way switching solution posted for one of our users who had run the power feed to one of the switch boxes and had no radial circuit to pick up a neutral at the lamp holder.
If you see this method used in your home ISOLATE ALL LIGHTING CIRCUITS BEFORE WORKING ON ANY OF THEM. You see this method offered on many DIY sites but the safety issues are rarely explained adequately.
Now consider Fig 2 again, the live feed leaves the consumer unit (fuse board) and runs round the house to the downstairs switch, it then runs upstairs to the second switch, up through the light. 2 way switching means having two or more switches in different locations to control one lamp.
Here we have a two way switching system that utilises two single gang two-way switches and a three wire control, shown in the old cable colours. Here we a have a schematic (Fig 1) which makes it easy to visualise how this circuit works. The schematic is nice and simple to visualise the principal of how this works but is little help when it coms to actually wiring this up in real life!! Fig 2 below shows how we achieve this configuration. Just like any loop-in loop-out radial circuit, the switch cable from the ceiling rose contains two wires, a permanent live and a switched live. There is a chance that if your house has these old wiring colours the switch drops may be from a loop-in-loop-out radial lighting circuit done with junction boxes rather than ceiling roses as shown in Fig 2.
Here we have a two way switching system that utilises two single gang two-way switches and a three wire control, shown in the new harmonised cable colours. The schematic is nice and simple to visualise the principal of how a two way switch works but is little help when it coms to actually wiring this up in real life!! Note that the switch symbol displays an open or closed circuit path, which is what an actual switch performs.
At first glance, a repair diagram may not convey how wires are of many colors and diameters (or gauges). The diameter of each wire symbolized may be indicated by a label placed at some point along side its drawn line (1)(0.8). For consistency in reading, most electrical schematics have signal or energy flow from top to bottom, with component inputs on the left and outputs on the right. Ohm’s Law defines the relationships between (P) power, (E) voltage, (I) current, and (R) resistance. The second part of this section deals with the wiring of ceiling fans with lights, as shown in Figure 1.
For the purpose of the diagrams we assume that if there is only one wall switch it powers the light and the fan is controlled by a switch on the fixture (the reverse is possible by changing the wire in the fixture identified as fan to light and the wire identified as light to fan.

These drawings are based on the wiring methods that an electrician would use in new construction.
You may also want to ask this question on the Designaddict forum - there are several designers over there that may have experience with lamp design. Go to my Switch Terminology Page where I discuss the terms used for the different types of home electrical switches.
We will assume that the circuit in these examples are controlling the power source to the same load.
Before going any further with the 4-way switch instructions, I would recommend you go to my Wiring a 3-way switch page and first become familiar with that circuit and how it functions. OK, assuming you are all caught up on the 3-way concept, we will continue by making a 3-way circuit into a 4-way circuit.
As you can see, this is basically a 3-way circuit with a 4-way switch added between the (2) 3-way switches.
QuestionI have a double switch - top one is for outside light and bottom in for the door entry - on left side there is only one screw and the other side has 3 screws - it is wire like this black and white wire attached on the one screw on left and right side is black white and black- is this right. This site answers questions related to home electrical wiring, home wiring, general electrical help, and other electrical questions related to aleternating current (AC).
All anyone here can do is provide a wide range of prices, often in hundreds or thousands of dollars span. Best that you contact at least three local contractors to get quotes for the same exact scope of work relating to your project. Even getting pricing from local contractors you often will see a substantial price difference. If you are doing a new install or replacing a two way switch system go for the three wire control method. This is fine when executed correctly but here is what you need to look out for: where this is used in a stairwell where you have a switch upstair and a switch downstairs there is the danger that the neutral and the live come from different lighting circuits. The good thing about twin and earth cables is that the live and return are always in close proximity (in the same cable) so there is a cancelling effect. The path to neutral may well run around the upstairs lighting circuit before making its way back downstairs to the consumer unit. They are wired so that operation of either switch will control the light. This arrangement is often found in stairways, with one switch upstairs and one switch downstairs or in long hallways with a switch at either end.
It is possible to achieve a similar result using a two wire control which, although it saves on cable, is not recommended. In this state the lamp is off, changing the position of either switch will switch the live to the lamp turning it on. The switch wiring is all the same but the switch wire (cable C) leads up to a different set up. For example, a few basic symbols common to electrical schematics are shown as: (1) Switch, (2) Battery, (3) Resistor and (4) Ground. The battery symbol appears to be made of layers or plates, common to internal battery construction. The case ground symbol indicates a connection pointing downward (ground) that dissipates energy.

With an understanding of how a system would function, the electrical diagram is probably one of the most valuable resources a technician can use in repairing a vehicle.
Number 275-226) will do unless your amperage demands exceed 30 amps.  Use a lighted or illuminated light switch in the cab to let us know if driving lights are on. One ohm is the resistance value through which one volt will maintain a current of one ampere.
It’s the push or pressure behind current flow through a circuit, and is measured in (V) volts. In order to post comments, please make sure JavaScript and Cookies are enabled, and reload the page. This means that the circuit could split at this point and run to numerous other devices and fixtures. If the feed is at the switch then you can just daisy chain the cable between lights 1 and 2 and then 2 and 3. Wiring a 4-way switch is simply adding a switch to an already existing 3-way switch circuit. Again, if you choose to have more locations controlling the load, then add additional 4-way switches. Now this one gets a little tricky by keeping track of what switch you toggle in your mind, just hang in there. The live is picked up downstairs and there are still live conductors feeding the switch upstairs and if someone flipped the downstairs switch in this diagram that live feed would extend all the way to the lamp too (you’re fried baby!!).
If this box is used to split the circuit then there could be many black, white and ground wires connected together. Or providing it has access (being in a barn i am assuming it has) you can use a junction box at each point . This allows you to control a load from other locations in addition to the (2) locations that a 3-way circuit provides. Now don't let this be confused with where the switches are physically located in your home. The switches can be physically located to your liking but you must keep in mind the ease of routing the wiring from point to point.
Also, this example is just adding a single 4-way switch which will give you 3 locations to control your light.
To add more locations to this circuit you just simply add additional 4-way switches in series with the existing 4-way switch. So top left red connects to bottom right black and when toggled top left red connects to top right red.
